Welly's packed tonight already as Dance Bastards hit the stage with their refreshing brand of dirty electronic rap with a catchy bass that's to die for. These two gorgeous girls are hypnotising the crowd not only with their sassy moves and wrap around skirts, but with serious attitude from lead singer Kate who positively screams girl power (way overdue!) with lyrics about female independence and force, instead of the usual 'Oh-my-god-he-just-looked-at-me...Ahhh!' sentiments of other girl bands.

About time! I've been waiting for these guys and they're here at last, packed with talent, style, great lyrics to boot and a killer bass...good times are destined for these guys. They're the highlight of my night! After a huge round of applause the wolf whistles die down and it's a long wait for The Towers, but after about an hour of being squashed by guys with cameras all crowding near the side entrance, they finally appear to a scary air raid siren (?) and it's up to a few burly bouncers to hold back the crowd of Emos with cameras waiting for that all important glimpse of Donny. He appears at last as if he's just been sneaked in by the CIA, and ushered past the burly gorillas.

The whole place erupts with huge guys jumping up and down to The Towers' brand of heavy, in-your-face rock'n'roll that's a mixture of The Faces, The Clash and The Sex Pistols all rolled into one. Complete with leather jackets, skinny jeans, huge shades, big scary hair and skinny spray-painted vest tops, these guys give Hull a well deserved 'kick up the arse' as Donny would say, when it comes to bringing back classic rock'n'roll punk.

You can feel the air charged with testosterone, sweat and grease as the guys break outta their shirts Hulk-style and spit water all over the place. I can hardly see over the hands of guys punching the air shouting 'Oy, Oy, Oy!' but I catch Donny breaking out from the stage, he jumps onto a speaker and dangles from a ceiling bar and hovers easily over the admiring crowd, like a vision from above.

As a finale the guys chuck themselves into the audience and are tossed about by the sweaty fans straining to grab whatever they can, and the crowd rushes to the exit to catch a last minute snapshot of the sweaty rockers as they casually leave. An all round pleaser and a night worth the wait, as the crowd leave on a high and the buzz of excitement is still hovering in the air. Another great night at Welly and as everyone drunkenly dawdles out, we're ready for our next installment of rock already. Bring it on!
