Welly in Hull's been around for a few years and through all the eyeliner, exaggerated hair, skinny jeans and beer soaked t-shirts, it's seen enough emo bands, trashed dressing rooms and drunk indie guys to last a lifetime, but tonight was special as Paparazzi Whore took over the stage and set the place alight! Bass driven??? Man! The speakers made my head ring as they pelted out their very own style of fast punk/rock inspired by the classics like The Stranglers, The Jam, The Ramones and the heavier the better as Adie gives the drums a serious thrashing.

The big bass lines catch everyone's attention as guys that look like they couldn't make it to the next Slayer concert, make their way through the crowd to see who's behind this rampaging whirlwind of rock! And then there's Chris, looking like a Rock God in cool black leather jacket, chains and stonking boots, givin it large on bass and Micci is in her fantastic badge studded white leather jacket, bra, and mini skirt whipping the crowd into a sweaty male frenzy.

And in the crowd the seemingly tiny emo girls stay back fearing for their life as they'd be crushed in the increasingly energetic and dangerous crowd full of testosterone man beasts trying to start a mini mosh pit with the slightly scared dancer, Suzanne in the crowd. The crowd can hardly finish their wolf whistles and howls to the moon, as Shaun and Chris blast out another heavy and catchy beat and Suzanne takes to the stage with an uncontrollable urge to shake the place down. Getting very sexy with Micci and very close, the guys love it and I see heads moving through the crowd to get a closer look, and Micci takes a time out to announce it's a special gig tonight as it's Faye and Suzanne's birthday today and the crowd give an appreciative applause and smiles all around.

But through all the heavy bass guitar and intense rhythm guitar, you can almost be distracted from the lyrics that are about serious stuff like sexuality I'll Be Your Boyfriend and drugs Beneath Your Skin.

And it's not surprising as we see the punky temptress Micci sandwiched between Chris and Shaun and she's luvin it! Big smiles from the crowd there and towards the end of their set Chris lifts his hand to show blood running down his fingers, as he got a bit too excited in his guitaring, but he carries on like a trooper and manages to crack out one more song. Now the crowd are closing in on the stage and they're so close they could touch each other, and that's what tonight's all about. Full of sex, bass, punk, anger, style, and energy, their set feels like being slapped in the face until you like it!

These guys are a bass-driven whirlwind of noise screaming talent and sex from the stage, and after they finish their set, the crowd rushes forward to shake their hands and I can see hardcore guys turning into teenage girls, all smiley and happy!
