As it should be at any techno night, the lights went up to wide eyes, sweaty faces, rapturous applause and cries of 'one more'. Downstairs, events were similar. Although in all honesty I spent the majority of my time in the rafters bouncing to techno, we made sure we caught a bit of everyone's musical input for the night.

Bungle greased up room two nicely with an array of block-rockin' breaks and electro, as Alex Paterson of The Orb took over and provided a cacophony of minimal glitch and stepping rhythms. The task of wrapping things up in room two was down to the Inspectors, who performed a live and loud finale of intricate breaks and beats, pushing things forward right until the last.

Top Marks all round! In the world of business ethics, one of the central objectives is to provide a service. As a business, night and all round asset of Hull's music scene, Pure Techno certainly does this.

With electronic music in the UK constantly shifting from extreme to extreme, techno as a genre continues to find itself stuck in an ever-increasing blurred middle ground in the dance music scene. As dedicated techno nights are becoming progressively fewer and further between, the celebration of Pure Techno's 3rd birthday shows techno is well and truly still there, the flag being flown high and proud.

Fast becoming one of the country's most consistent premier techno nights, the 3rd birthday marked Pure Techno's well earned success up to now, and their firm intention to carry on doing what they do best.
