Toby Jepson Blasts back on the 'Rock 'n' Roll Scene

Toby Jepson with a new sound, a new band and an innovative music releasing concept.

|
Building on his incredibly successful initial career as singer-songwriter with
The Little Angels and more recently as special guest to THUNDER and subsequent
headlining solo shows through 2006-2007, Toby and his band are back and heavier than before.
Toby Jepson is a remarkable singer/songwriter, somewhere between Bruce Springsteen,
Tom Waits and Steve Earle. Beautifully crafted songs based on everyday experiences,
sung with a passion only possible if you've lived the dream, and played with the fire
of a band that has something to prove!
For almost ten years, Toby Jepson was the Lead Singer/Main Songwriter for British Rock Band,
The Little Angels, a band best remembered for anthemic songs and incendiary live performances.
|
|
|
Along the way, the band produced three excellent albums, crossed the boundary between
Rock and Pop, and performed on some of the largest stages with some of the biggest
bands of their day, (Bon Jovi, Van Halen, ZZ Top and Bryan Adams to name but a few),
and had some of the UK's top music legends queuing up to guest with them on stage (
like The Who's Roger Daltrey for example). Not bad for an eighteen year old kid....
Anyway, once The Little Angels had run their course, Toby Jepson took some time off
just to catch up on what he had missed out on in terms of friends and family, also
taking time to travel and actually see some of the world.
The whole idea behind this was to develop his inspiration for a whole new set of songs.
|
|
Once he retuned from his travels, Toby set about shaping his solo career.
With his new band, Toby and the Whole Truth, he released the critically acclaimed
Ignorance Is Bliss and set about touring in support.
|
The tour was a great success, and during this tour, Toby and the band worked so
hard that something had to give, and it was his health.
Toby had also been managing himself, and was the man responsible for making sure
everyone got paid and that everything ran smoothly.
This was the sort of thing Toby had always been in the fortunate position to have
someone to do for him, so it was, at this stage, too much for young shoulders to carry.
After the tour he was forced to take a long break to recuperate, so Toby took some time
off to spend with his new family, and got involved in promoting some shows as well.
This all kept his hand in the game whilst he was able to focus exactly on the direction
he wanted to take as an artist.
|
|
|
A guest spot with Bryan Adams encouraged Toby Jepson to put a new band together to write
and record some material, so TOBY set about creating songs in his own studio, but
still with no clear plan as to what to do with them.
That being said, a casual approach from Van Halen about replacing the recently departed
Sammy Hagar, left Toby in no doubt that he still wanted to perform live in some capacity.
Whilst working on the material, Toby also managed to indulge in his other passion.
Always a movie buff, caused by endless hours spent on tour buses and in hotels, Toby
was spending time acting, with many movies and TV shows to his credit, Gladiator,
Band of Brothers, Sleepy Hollow, Casualty and Playing The Field, to name just a few.
|
|
However, Toby 's passion has always been about music, and with the shift in trends
towards established artist's re-launching themselves, it had to be all about careful planning.
The response from fans, old and new, when it was announced that Toby Jepson would be special
guest on the recent THUNDER tour of the U.K. proves that now is the time!

I grew up in a place called Holbrooks in Coventry with my mum, dad, 3 older sisters and 2 brothers; I am second from youngest. It's not always easy to live in such a big family, especially for my mum (!), but I'm lucky that they've always been ultra supportive with whatever I chose to do.
