Something about the no-nonsense look it gave her appeals; comfortable, confident and purposeful those ought to be my new watch words. It was then I struck on the idea of generating more content for the site, just by talking to people in the bar who I found interesting, perhaps because of their look, their fashion or something else that an artist just can't quite define.

I spoke with lots of different people and discovered a children's author, a web developer, a musician, another writer and a friend of a friend who I'd not seen since a wedding in 2004. Amazing what you uncover when you open yourself up to people and their lives. Give a bit of encouragement, show a genuine interest and you can turn dusty gems into polished diamonds.

Mo left us sometime later and we decided to move on to Zest. Recently Zest has been the favoured hang out of local bands including Talent Trail Finalists, The Beards (placed second on the night) and artists, writers, bohos, dandys, and local councillors. Cilla and I walked in grabbed a conveniently placed table and proceeded to demolish yet another bottle of red. I tried the same trick again and found a café owner and a few students.

They weren't all that impressed with my pitch for content and started telling me how I should be approaching people, maybe it was their boarish attitude to my creative spontaneous approach-fearless I might add- or perhaps it was the effect of the liquor but I grew tired of their negativity and sat back down at the table somewhat deflated. To pick my spirits up I decided we simply had to go to Welly, to see Dead Disco at Yo-Yo. Somehow we managed to flag down a cab in no time at all, and we arrived at the club just as the mostly girl band kicked of their lively rock n roll set.

I remember dancing and bouncing as the Leeds rockabilly band showed us why they are hot on the heels of the Long Blondes success story. Check out the exclusive gallery taken by Cilla on the night; some cracking shots I think you'll agree. For the rest of the night we danced to Priya's wicked Indie disco best in town by all accounts. We spoke with many friendly faces, Hi to Flo from London, and to Simon and Paul from Park and Ride (were you dancing with our Cilla?) and to Darren Rogers for lending an air of sobriety to proceedings.

At the end of the night some cheeky lad took off with my hat, my new hat (you can see from the pics a number of people wearing it) that I had had for only a week. The hat, that I had been so pleased with when I bought it from Alfie at leading vintage boutique Chinese Laundry. Come on guys, return it. I'm naked without it and I went in the other day and none of the other ones he had fitted my oddly shaped head. Anyone returning said hat can claim a free double spirit of their choice from me.
