Harmonies play a big part in the Ernest sound too and almost certainly the band will feel
the loss of Dale's vocal. I lost count how many times I smiled as Terry, Dale and Ian
used to launch themselves full blooded, into multi-layered vocals.
Ian on drums took command of the harmonies once more while Terry was rocking out madly out front.
There was a good crowd for a slow burner band which it's fair to say they are.

Their creations start from small sounds, maybe a spiritual sample like on the beautiful
Crash Tested which just begs to be listened to. The vocals and lyrics are pure Ernest but
slightly jaded, bitter...?
The sharp plaintive notes ring out then morph into heavier refrains that fall away once more.
Minimalist guitar and percussion along the way break the hardest heart and around me
friends are dancing and singing. This is my next magic festival moment.

There's more, so much more with the easy rolling Stay Calm and I'm singing again and feeling
beautiful, kicking up my heels in the grassy tufts. It's another favourite as it breaks out
of its skin and hits all those funky breaks that fight amongst themselves.
The riffs in this one have a touch of Franz maybe, and may well be the closest they get to
being pidgeonholeable, except they throw you with samples questioning your thoughts,
actions and information storage. Love it! There is more but I'll save it for another time.
There's always more time for Ernest.

So to Shindigg - another band that it's fair to say haven't had an easy ride with band
members coming and going, and work commitments taking up valuable time out of recording schedules.
The last big gig they did was Green Concert and they nailed that show.
Playing this was possibly one of the highest profile shows they have done, certainly
in the last year or so.

I know they used to be massive crowd pullers and filled pubs and clubs all over whether they
played as Shindigg or their alter ego The Flatmates.
Tonight they drew the crowd in; whether
it was those rippling pecs of the topless Tommo, or the imposing beard of Mike itsl, it
may well have been the sight and sounds of Becky on drums or maybe it was for the music,
I hope it was for all four but mostly the music.

Oh I was so excited by now, having drunk nearly two thirds of my fizzy orange and one or two
freebies from generous persons around the park.
Shindigg on a big stage with lots of other people who obviously liked them, including a
Rednite Stripper and representatives from all girl band Jilly's Will (playing
Durty Nellys 12th September) all cheering the band on.

The Dance Bastards are not your average band. For a start there are only 2 of them.
A female vocalist and a female guitarist, who augmented their offerings with a
synthesized backing track to produce an amazingly full sound.
The music was both hypnotic and repetitive, like early acid house only slower and less manic.
