Book Now For The Best Beards Ever
By Michelle Dee
|
When you've got forty-two years between you, of being in bands and playing original music,
it comes as a surprise to find yourself in a covers band.
This is exactly what happened to four of Hulls' talented and popular musicians.
Last year three of Hull's top bands called it a day.
After losing Neil and Knocker (the latter now playing bass for Turismo),
SideWinder
played their last.
|
|
|
The highly regarded band The Senses disbanded and Matt vocals/bassist was
left looking for a new project.
Lastly The Dirty Dreamers split up late in last December when Ash, lead singer left the band.
This sad departure left Baz Barraclough and his flamboyant guitar,
Dawson and Moggy (remaining members of SideWinder) and Matt without a stage.
The four men got together and formed The Beards with the aim of putting fun
back into watching and playing live music.
|
They were all fed up after years of slaving away on original material, tripping
to and fro from venues, playing gig after gig - to gain kudos points from
promoters, media etc.
And all this is done in the vain hope of playing in front of that one
person with the capacity to help elevate each of their bands to greater success.
The Beards as a band recognize the importance of musicians writing and
performing their own material.
Expressing creativity in an original way is crucial to keeping fluidity in
the music and the scene fresh and inviting.
|
|
|
The band entertains crowds with popular songs spanning four decades of guitar music.
Crossing time boundaries with ease, they take in classic tracks by The Beatles,
Stones and Ocean Colour Scene then bring it right up to date with massive hits
from Kings Of Leon, Oasis and Primal Scream.
|
|
|
Using their understanding and experience in music, the band is able to bridge the
generation gap and appeal to all ages.
The Beards play with passion because they play the tunes that they genuinely like
and which mean something to them.
When the four musicians, Dawson, Matt Moggy and Baz play together the result
is eye-catching and fun.
|
When I saw the band play, the Sunday evening crowd in The Dorchester Hotel called for more.
The Beards delivered time and again and even played an encore after the two 40 minute sets.
Look out for powerful vocals and bass from Matt, colourful beats from Moggy and a rock n
roll guitar master class from Dawson and Baz.
|
|
|
The Beards are available for private parties, corporate events, weddings,
bar mitzvahs - they add they'll even do funerals with a kick.
The four piece band are all fully equipped and come with their own experienced
sound engineer and rig.
To contact The Beards for bookings and hear a sample of their extensive
repertoire email Moggy
