Live Forever are a local Oasis tribute band, playing hits from 1994 to the current album
Don't Believe The Truth.
The band have been playing in Yorkshire's top venues for the last three years, including
The Springhead, Stone Roses Bar and The KC Stadium to name but a few.
|
The band has a great five-man line up: -
Vocals: - Tony
Lead Guitar/Backing Vocals: - Mark
Lead/Rhythm Guitar: - Steve
Bass: - Bri
Drums: - Mike
|
|
They came together three years ago, and they pride themselves on making every gig seem like the real McCoy.
I have personally seen Live Forever 4 times and have seen some cracking gigs.
The front man of the band, Tony, is a good vocalist and his Liam swagger really gets the fans going.
He even comes on stage with his tambourine, walking just like the Oasis front man.
In my opinion, Tony is a good look-alike too. Of course, you're not there to see
Liam Gallagher or Oasis, but he does a good job of impersonating LG.
|
|
The Springhead Pub - Friday 13th January 06
I thought it would be difficult to report on this gig, as I'm a massive Oasis fan myself.
But hey, music is all about personal feelings.
With front man Tony you can't take your eyes away from him due to his Liam presence and natural character.
He has a passion to please the crowd and it shows in every performance.
|
|
Lead guitarist and backing vocalist Mark actually (in my opinion) looks like Bonehead.
I'm sure Mark won't thank me for writing that, but I thought ... Oh my God, that's what
Bonehead is doing now - He's joined an Oasis cover band!
Mark makes playing the guitar look effortless and his singing skills are quite good too.
|
Steve plays rhythm guitar and also plays lead along with Mark.
I have to say, I was mighty impressed with Steve's guitar playing that night.
I was watching him from the bar and just had to go closer, so that I could focus on his amazing ability.
Bass player, Bri did well. He is the oldest member of the band but doesn't show it on stage.
He has energy and seems to enjoy his time playing bass for Live Forever.
If I had to say one thing bad, I think the bass was too loud at this gig.
|
|
|
Last but not least is Mike (the drummer). He makes sure the Oasis beats ring around the venue.
He looks happy at the drum kit, Alan White would be proud.
|
|
Here is the set list for The Springhead pub gig -
First Set: - Supersonic, Shakermaker, Hindu Times, She's Electric, D'ya Know What I Mean, Lyla, Slide Away,
Don't Look Back In Anger.
Second Set: - Bring It On Down, Wonderwall, Importance Of Being Idle,
Columbia, Let There Be Love, Live Forever, Morning Glory, Cigarettes and Alcohol, Acquiesce, Rock and Roll Star.
Live Forever try really hard at every gig. They do a good job of impersonating Oasis.
I mean, come on, Oasis are probably the hardest band to mimic, apart from The Beatles.
|
My favourite track of the night was The Importance Of Being Idle. Good work lads!

Music Reviews - Christmas Eve at The Ringside - 24th December 05 By Anthony Baine Photo Gallery By Mo
|
|
Hang your heads, Hull music lovers. Christmas Eve, the only place open for live music is Ringside.
And there's nobody here. Well, perhaps I exaggerate but the turn out is shoddy.
I cannot believe that at the end of a year when so much has been printed and spoken about
this town's potential to be the next big thing in British music, on a night arranged
by Hull's leading independent

Under The Influence celebrated its Christmas bash down at the Adelphi with a
line up of rather new Hull bands them being, GST Cardinals, The Blackouts and
The Chase. The billed act, !Forward Russia! sadly cancelled so promoter
Dean Shakespeare had to make a few fast decisions to insure the show went on.
He called upon good friends GST Cardinals to open with a very welcome

Neville Staples, Quartermain and The Bonnitts at The Ringside, Monday 19th December 05 By Dick Spring Photos By Mo
|
|
Monday December 19th 2005 is a date that could go down in the musical history of the city, for
that was the day Neville Staples, original rudeboy singer of the legendary Two Tone
band The Specials, and co founder of Fun Boy Three, made a triumphant return to Hull.
Opening up were Hull favourites The Bonnitts who, though beset by a few technical
problems, marched on through

Music Reviews - Tuesday 15th November - She Likes Parties at The Sesh By Becky
|
|
Over the last few weeks I have watched She Likes Parties come forward in leaps and bounds.
Having gained a reputation from Sally Likes Parties (vocals) performing a capella at
Staks cafe bar, acoustic sets at Linnet, Staks and Adelphi and drunken spur of the moment
sets in the back room of Saturday night Silhouettes, the band had a lot to live up to at
their debut gig as a full

Music Reviews - Thursday 15th December 05 - Band Wars at The Polar Bear By Michelle Dee

Band Wars 2005 Result is an Insult to Hull Music.
You know there's something amiss when you have to explain the presence of your bar staff in
one of the bands to reach the final four.
The competition was held at Polar Bear, the prize was a £1000.
The four bands in the final were Jilly hates Willy Konscience,
The Cyclones and The Landaus.
There really was no contest or shouldn't have been...

Music Reviews - Bob Geldof at Hull City Hall - Thursday 1st December 05 By Steve Rudd
|
|
December 1st 2005, in my mind, has gone down in history as an unforgettable day.
It was the day I met my biggest hero.
And whoever said that to meet your hero is usually a disappointing affair was wrong
in this instance, and since meeting Bob Geldof (twice in one night!),
I'm filled with even more respect for the man ... the god.
I never ever thought I'd get the chance to meet

Music Reviews - 3rd November - Mystery Jets at The Adelphi By Emily

|
Thursday 3rd was Mystery Jets' third visit to the Adelphi -
their previous gig, earlier in the year - and proves that they are only
getting bigger and better.
This time around the venue was a lot fuller; buzzing with people curious
as to whether the Mystery Jets live up to the hype.
Since the Jets' last Hull appearance, the band has gained coverage through
the NME

The fresh five-piece from Hull have fast become the band name to drop in any
discerning musos discourse.
Recent months has seen them leapfrogging the opposition and quickly reaching and
surpassing a few significant milestones.
The band had barely been together two months when they headlined at the
Sesh (see review thisisull.com

This was quickly followed by more

Music Reviews - Night Clubs - Friday 2nd December - Regis at Pure Techno at Rhythm Room By Michelle Dee

Friday night in the icy rain I flagged down a cab to town.
My preferred late night spot tonight was Rhythm Room on Baker Street for a heady night of uplifting beats.
Someone once enquired, What is this rude, lewd, lascivious junk called techno? What, indeed.
One way of describing it is like a sonic sunburst

Whenever a musical icon dies, there always follows a period where their name and
image is turned into a commodity.
The best current example would be John Lennon.
The celebration of what would have been his sixty-fifth birthday and the impending
twentieth anniversary of his death has sent the record companies and the various
conglomerates that

Scarborough Beached Festival 2005 Sunday By Michelle Dee Photos by Roland Standaert and Michelle Dee

Sand beneath my feet, sounds of activity on the stage, blue skies overhead, sun blazing: a strange
but rather pleasant surrounding for a gig.
Amaya Huntly and Jon Neeves had the unenviable task to open the show on Sunday.
An acoustician and Keyboard duo; the highlight of their set was the Credence Clearwater Revival
cover where they proved with a strong number they can do a

Last night probably the biggest name in recent Indie music touched down in Hull as part of their Europe-wide tour. A tour, which, will see them play thirty-seven dates in sixteen different countries.
The tickets were sold out almost as soon as they came on sale, so we knew we were in for a
packed gig with plenty of people and a great atmosphere.
The Glaswegian multi-award winners sure know
