SideWinder headlined at long last and I enjoyed what I saw of them, although the Xmas cheer was getting to me by then. They play proper rock n' roll music like the Cardinals would like to think they do. Only SideWinder do it infinitely better. I've seen them before but it was quite a while ago and it was nice to be reminded that there are bands here that do this sort of music properly. They are fine musicians, and I will definitely go and see them again.

Their best song on the night was a hard riffing up-beat number, reminiscent of Rear View Mirror by Pearl Jam, and it was a damn shame that so few people were there to see them. And that was that.

As I wobbled off down Beverley road in the vain hope of flagging a taxi, I wondered where everyone was, why they hadn't come to Ringside to witness these young fledglings lay their talents on the line. Then I realised, the promoters had made a foolish mistake, they had overlooked something that is a major selling point on the music scene in hull when you're putting a gig on. It struck me as I looked at the flyer which I'd had in my pocket. None of the bands started with The.
