Oxjam in Hull - October 06 By Andrew Marshall (Oxjam Music Events Organiser)
|
The UK's largest Music Festival, Oxjam has begun.
Spanning the whole month, this is without doubt Oxfam's most ambitious music
festival ever, with one ultimate aim: to make music - raise money - change lives
The goal is to stage 2,500 music events, that's over 3,000 hours of musical entertainment!
Bands such as The Dirty Dreamers, Windum Earl, Chikinki will be appearing at a
list of venues though out the city to do their bit for this good cause.
This is a great opportunity for up and coming bands and artists to get exposure while
at the same time help others.
|
|
|
As Jay of Jamiroquai said I love music and hate poverty.
If you're like me, Oxjam is a fantastic way for you to do what you love doing and raise
money for Oxfam whilst you're doing it. No matter how big or small, or if you're a
professional or not, put on an event, have a great time and help end poverty.
Bands such as The Kaiser Chiefs, Franz Ferdinand, Goldfrapp, and The Futureheads are
also all lending their support to Oxjam.
This is what our two main sponsors in Hull had to say:
|
|
Victoria Marshall, Managing Director of Marshall Amplification said;
We hope Marshall Amplifications involvement will make the Oxjam festival heard throughout
the world and help put an end to poverty.
|
|
|
Reckitt Benckiser said; ....We believe that we can make a difference, by joining forces in our support
of those less fortunate than we are. ....The Hull Division is pleased to support the Oxjam festival.
|
If Hull wants something to be proud of then look no further than the local music scene.
The place is just oozing with talent with the likes of The Beautiful South,
The Paddington's, Fat Boy Slim, and not forgetting the 80s legends The Fine Young Cannibals;
its quality not quantity that matters!
The line up in Hull for Oxjam sees the bringing together of local and national talent to make
music to help others. There are currently twelve gigs in Hull -

|
Not many moons ago AfterGlow were a group of friends who got together because of a
shared passion of live music and in spite of differing musical tastes or maybe for
that very reason they decided to form a band.
They found themselves a common ground to write and play music that they liked.
I first saw them play at the ill fated

Music News, Interviews - Interview with Paparazzi Whore By Karl Whiting
|
|
This is a whole new ball game to me.
I was sitting in Pave, drinking cordial having arrived slightly earlier than the band.
The atmosphere's relaxed and Joni Mitchell's playing overhead - what more could you wish for?
I was waiting to interview the band Paparazzi Whore - my first ever interview.
And how surreal, interviewing one of my friends I went to college with.
