Eventually we went back to the camp and lit a fire. We had the sort of rambling, incoherent chat that only takes place when you are completely out of it. We discussed and completely deconstructed the career of Arnold Swarzenegger, with particular reference to Total Recall. Was the entire film a dream? Did Quaid really go to Mars, or did it all take place within his head? We also covered the unsavoury rumours that a certain well-known children's entertainer (now deceased) used his puppet as a means to molest young boys.

One of my mates was so traumatised by an experience he had on stage with the entertainer in question, he announced his intention to have Touched By An Emu tattooed across his stomach the following day, just so his psychological scars could be made visible for all to see. There was a group of teenagers camping across from us, celebrating their GCSE results, and they were so disturbed by our conversation that they went to bed early.
