Meg Williams Band - Fragments Of Love (3 Track Demo)
By Steve Rudd
Meg and her band here present three rousing rock numbers that have been recorded at
Hull's legendary Fairview Studios. Singer and lyricist Meg and her musician friends
have fashioned some truly entrancing numbers, with Stole A Kiss being the first song
on the CD, which oozes moody atmospherics in a Mostly Autumn kind of way, as
Meg's haunting vocals compliment the accompanying piano melody.
Where Are You Now? is another piano-based affair, before a guitar melody and
steady beat magically kick in, all the while Meg's melancholic laments prove
that she is both emotionally astute when it comes to writing her lyrics, and
genuinely passionate when it comes to delivering them.
The Nobody tune, meanwhile, is a more upbeat number that's brought to life
by guitarist Dave's wicked melody that underpins Meg's vocals in style.
All the songs have something of a Goth-tinged edge, and going on the strength
of these so-called Fragments Of Love, it's safe to say that the good people of
Hull should do everyone in their humble power to check out Meg and her marvellous band.
