The band is blessed in Stef; a drummer possessed, of great skill and rhythmic know how, but energy flows from all members of the band tonight. The group are cohesive and play off each other well.

The song Crazy Eyes shows a more playful side to the group with genuine humour sparking smiles from the three front men. The song that stole the show has to be Ladykiller with its measured chorus and memorable hook lines; it stays with you weeks after you first hear it. The Landaus continue to be a top band full of character and excellent value.
Sadly The Morphines singer broke his arm meaning the band had to cancel at the last minute, something that Chris from the band was more than a little disappointed at. I chose this moment to go for a wander and didn't make it back until the last few songs from The Applewhites.

They were good and fired the crowd up again but I hear their new demo is a scorcher. The Dirty Dreamers played a blinding set of loud lascivious rock n roll. Ash, the winsome lead singer allowed certain lucky young things join in on the mic during Three Lines, thanks Ash.
The night continued, as did the music there were whispers of a DJ off between the likes of Mel and Kat, collectively known as the Sleaze Queens, and Jonof and Brian?

Whether this happened and who won I don't really know. I had given up trying to stay reasonably sober by then and slowly gave in to the demons in my head.
I was there or thereabouts for the raucousness of tonight's headliners. Turismo turned the place upside down and inside out with possibly the biggest crowd pleaser of the night. People were singing and shouting a riot was threatening to break out. Baz from the Dirty Dreamers was riding a member Park and Ride; Baggott wore a very stylish hat.

Megaphone in hand he tried to take command, but he asked us on the stage, we invaded like a plague, he lay down, sprawled out, draped across the floor, on stage with Turismo who could ask more? He stared up from our feet and the night was complete.
Well done to all the organisers, for HPSS for doing a sterling job with the sound, to the bar staff regular and extra for putting in all those hours.

Mentions must go to all the in house staff that handled everything professionally but with a relaxed attitude. Oh and to Ted who chose that week to go on holiday and missed it all. Doh!
Yet another full on, well attended event with local music at its core. Thanks to all the bands that played; they were The Vels, The Johnsons, 59 Violets, Blueslide Circle, Sidewinder, Ernest, The Landaus, The Applewhites, The Bonnitts, The Dirty Dreamers, Last People On Earth and finally Turismo.

Music Reviews - Saturday 23rd April - Hard-Fi, Boy Kill Boy and Turismo at Sweet n Sour, Silhouette Club By Dick Spring with a terrfic 9 page Photo Gallery By Darren Rogers
On arrival at the front of the club I find a queue waiting to get in, so this must be some measure of the demand for this show tonight (oh, the power of hype) though a top ten single can't have helped the headline band's cause at all! It was indeed packed out, it took me twenty minutes to get a drink, which is something that needs to be addressed by Read more...

Music Reviews - Thursday 21st April - Ernest, Rumpus, Scaramanga Six and Fonda 500 at the Adelphi Happy as a Sandman By Michelle Dee
What a fantastic night. No really, if you weren't there then you missed out on seeing some of the finest bands the other side of sanity. The monthly local music magazine, oft slated in its own backyard landed a winning formula tonight. Ernest, who everyone should experience, continue to be spine tingling and achingly beautiful. Last night they grabbed Read more...

Music Reviews - Midge Ure at Pocklington Arts Centre - Wednesday 13th April 05 By Steve Rudd
Let me first just say that the Pocklington Arts Centre is a truly fantastic venue, and it's quite amazing that such a quality venue graces a town that is so small. Nestling perfectly to one side of the town's charming Market Square, this venue is a theatre, concert hall and Read more...

Music Reviews - Sal Paradise at The White Room - Saturday 19th March 05 By Anthony Baine
This is the first article I've ever written for thisisUll.com. Even though I've logged on regularly for the past year or so, and I follow the local music scene avidly, I've never been moved to put pen to paper. Until now. About six months ago, I wandered down to The Sesh Read more...

Music Reviews - Saturday 12th March 05 - Soulflame at the White Room By Michelle Dee
Soulflame have strong Puddle of Mudd influences in both sound and song construction. The E.P. is more melodic and measured than the live performance. Nic's vocals are at times quite balladic. He reaches for the high notes with a fresh enthusiasm Read more...

Music Reviews - Sweet n Sour 26 Feb The Glitterati and The Landaus By Michelle Dee
Why the hell do I do these things, it's not to get my skirt pulled up by some drunken goat called Mark that's for sure. If this had been in an office and not a nightclub then I would have you up for sexual harassment make no mistake. Did I see you go around lifting up other girls' apparel? Read more...
