Tonight, Yeti's support came from London based White Rose Movement. As soon as the band dived into their first song, I really thought that I was going to love them. In fact, every one of the songs on their set started off sounding very promising; fantastic intros that grab your attention and prepare you for a song full of energy and catchy hooks. However, when the vocals kicked in, they seemed to lose some of the energy.

The songs were certainly enjoyable to listen to but none of the songs really managed to stand out and the music just began to wash over me. I think the problem lay with the vocals. Although good, and reminding me slightly of Kele Okereke Bloc Party, they just weren't clear enough. Perhaps then, it was technical problems letting the band down.

The drumming reminded me of Razorlight, whilst the guitar player seemed like he should be fronting a band of his own - he was fantastic! TWRM came so close to being great tonight, but somehow just missed the mark.

Sound problems only got worse for headliners, Yeti. Front-man, John Hassall, comes across as a man who takes both himself and his music very seriously, so it was a shame to see such a fantastic band having to suffer a full set with a broken monitor. On top of that, the turnout was rather disappointing. This may have been down to the fact that the name Yeti still isn't well known enough to draw the crowds, and unless you've seen them live before, you probably won't have heard more than one or two of their songs.

Surely name-checking The Libertines would have done the trick, but this is a new band with new music and rightly so, they're not trying to play on the success of The Libertines. In fact, I don't think a nightclub really seemed like the ideal venue for this type of feel-good Beatles-esque music. The first thing that struck me about Yeti when they took to the stage, was how the line-up consists of four members, stood in a row, each with a guitar. It seemed to take the emphasis away from John's position as front-man.

The set didn't get off to a great start due to the problems with the monitors. Sadly, despite much annoyance and requests from both the band and audience members to turn the vocals up, the problem remained for throughout the set. For the majority of the songs, John's voice was drowned out by the music.

On a couple of occasions, when you did get the opportunity to hear him clearly, he sounded fantastic, as did the second vocalist. This only made it more frustrating, knowing how good they could sound; yet being unable to fully appreciate it when the monitors began playing up again. And who would have thought that someone previously known only for being a bass player could have such a great singing voice!
