For two Tuesdays in a row now The Sesh has proved to be the venue of choice. Last week it was almost impossible to move, due to all the people that turned out to show their support for the tsunami benefit gig.

This Tuesday the whole place is again full, it may not be as crowded as the previous week, but the turn out of the audience is yet again really encouraging.
What many venues lack is a really good DJ, someone who can describe to you what you're listening to over the PA, and where you can find out more about that specific artist/group. The Sesh's very own Mark Page actually lives up to this challenge and provides enthusiastic support for the local music scene. I would like to say watch this space, when it comes to The Sesh, but it has already filled it and has obviously managed to establish a reputable name. It's easy to see why.
The first solo act of the evening Andy Cornfoot, may appear nervous when he isn't engaged in music, but when he gets the buzz of the performance you can easily spot how comfortable he is with the relationship between himself and acoustic guitar.

Cross Word Girl is the evenings opening track. What at first may appear to be a disjointed combination of original vocal style and guitar turns out to complement each other perfectly.
The soft rock direction that Andy has chosen has a certain slant on it that can be linked to the acoustic work of Fuel or Lighthouse. At the same time he incorporates various emotive elements Damien Rice has managed to capture.
A respectable cover of Radiohead's High & Dry captivates the whole of the audience. The slight eerie pause, between the song's ending and the beginning of the applause, shows that the crowd are so lost in the music they didn't realise the song had come to an end. Another cover that is dangerous for any musician to take on is a Beatles track, this time it comes in the form of Back in The USSR, and there is a joint appreciation from the audience who don't feel offended by the solo artists rendition of this classic.
A unique combination of covers and personal songs, Andy Cornfoot proves he has the potential to hold the audience's attention by two means, a voice and a guitar.
In between the bustle of the artists switching positions on the stage there is just enough time for us to hear another track from The Sesh's benefit CD.

On the back wall images of the evenings performers are projected, a technique ensuring that you know exactly who is from what band. This simple utilisation of photos makes the relationship between audience and performer much more relaxed.
Highly amusing images keep popping up of some crazy hairy/shaved/beer swiller called Andy. This gentleman is also known as The Sneaks but currently appears to be a solo artist. I was lucky enough to see Andy perform as the opening act at the Rhythm Room last Tuesday evening, so I knew we were in for a treat in some shape or form.
An absolute superb blend of Ska, Dub and Reggae, Andy takes us on a trip through a whole host of subjects that mean something special to him.

At some points, certain lyrics stand out that as an audience you can relate to. Songs about people over concerned about possessions rather than things that matter in human existence such as caring, respect etc are so true to life it's a wonder this man hasn't written a self help book.
Although Andy definitely has a sound that is on a par with the brilliant Sublime, he can also conjure up a style, which holds the enthusiasm and smiles, found in a song by The Coral.

Business is a superb track from the evenings set and holds elements that can some up Andy's music.
