What's next for Sidewinder?
Neil: Tons of things. Like more meetings, more pieces of paper to sign...
Dawson: We've got a new website, and we're building that up with
info and downloads and stuff. I mean you have to have a decent website now.
Downloading music is transforming the industry, especially distribution.
It's the twenty-first century, and if you want to be taken seriously you have
to be willing to get your head around it.
Moggy: All this technology stuff! We're going to need Buck Rogers as a roadie.

Dawson: Or that little sliver robot midget that was in it - y'know, the one
with that thing around its neck...what was it called again?

Any advice for the next generation of bands in Hull?
Moggy: Er...get some decent songs, a decent website, and get out there and play.
POSTSCRIPT:
I know it's taken me an exceptionally long time to write this bastard, but
there have been a couple of reasons for this.
|
Firstly, my computer was fucked. I was at the end of the piece, with just the
interview to transcribe, and the hard drive containing the story vanished.
I have no fucking idea about computers beyond being able to write on them, so
I did what I always do in these type of situations - I phoned Cilla, and
she took my computer and away repaired it.
A big thank you to her then, for bailing my arse out of trouble once again.
The other reason is that I've been thinking a lot lately, and I've come
to a decision about something:
This will be the last thing I'm writing about music in Hull for a while.

I know it's no big deal to anyone, but there are a few circumstances that
make it hard for me to function effectively.
Don't get me wrong, I think the music scene is still healthy and it's
only getting better, but the thing is, I'm having difficulty finding the time to get involved.
|
|
I'm skint so I've to go back into full-time work, and I work nights,
so I can't drop everything and go to a gig at a moment's notice, and
that's essential.
I'd like to write one review a week, but with everything else I've
got going on, there are just not enough hours in the day.
For example, I actually planned on interviewing all the other bands
on the bill after the gig, but I just didn't have the time.
