On to the illustrious stage strode Park and Ride, and our lot went nuts.
They just flipped out completely; singing, dancing, pogo-ing, fit to burst.
P and R realised this was their chance to play to a crowd ready to explode, they didn't disappoint.
All the songs were played with more enthusiasm -if that's possible- than ever before; the sound
was tight, Jonathon's voice was awesome, the guitars slick.
The frantic insanity of the madcap outfit was exhilarating and I was carried on a crazy wave right till the show-stopping finale.
So many songs stand out, but the highlights if I have to choose were, Sex change, Smell of Success
and Blackpool.
Many of the non- Hull crowd, were really getting into the swing, including a certain
lush Welsh flower. Park and Ride have a most relaxed attitude to their work.
They make you feel special; they are amicable and don't put on airs and graces,
just because their in a fantastic band creating top songs.
When you first experience a Park and Ride gig, as I did many months ago on a damp
Welly Wednesday, you will find there's no way back.
When you have mastered the intricacies of the butt-banger dance- tonight magnificently
performed by Chris Heron and Alex- you are likely to be swept along by an overwhelming
sense of good will and good cheer.
And after you have sung I am the Butt-banger 232 thousand times on the way home, you will
wonder how you ever existed without their unique music and relentless humour.
After Park and Ride have just come off stage at the Cavern:
What do I think of the band? I think they are original they got personality and I think they do something without trying to be the norm, and I love them to bits.
I love Park and Ride but I love getting f*cked even more,
Quality bands tonight, absolutely spot on, they were all really good... and Dean's quote will probably be, I love you Hull.
It was spot on it was f*cking ace!
It was amazing! It really was, the energy of Park and Ride is unbelievable. I don't know how they do it. They have got some serious song writing talent and I fooking love 'em, I really do!
I think the Butt banger song has serious commercial value, and I put my hand on my heart saying, if there is a record company who will release that song, it would go to number 1. It's definitely got the potential to be a huge hit.
So then, with the fans going apoplectic, Blue Sand strode confidently on to the
legendary stage.
Ellie looks gorgeous, was the first thing I heard, a phrase that was to be repeated by a
number of people that night.
She played the bass with élan; with much more relish than I have seen of late.
She smiled and moved; she was as vital a part of the group as anyone else.
I think the fact she had centre stage helped a great deal rather than being stuck out on the edges.
If this is the shape of things to come then her performance and stage presence will grow,
thus enhancing the group's overall look.
Gaz sang his heart out; he has an amazingly powerful vocal ability.
Alan blew me away during Love To Hate You, the deeper quality of his vocal style compliments
the bands glorious sound.
Rob looked cool as f*ck at the Blue Sand drum-kit, with that light screaming,
The Cavern, behind him. For a moment it seemed like it was just meant to be; he was in his element.
Once again the whole of the Withernsea group's set was a highlight; their latest songs just
keep getting better and better.
Having left most of the quirky numbers of Changed Names behind they have grown into a rock
band with truly anthemic songs, beautiful tone and screamingly good lyrics.
Oh and wait...amid the outcry for more, resounding around The Caverns' walls, amid all
the chanting, stamping and waving, oh yes... amid the cacophonous roar...

week when most people prefer
