By the end of their first song, Asylum: has filled with all the people who had been sat drinking in the over-18s-alcohol-can-only-be-served-and-consumed-in-here-enclosure. It's a testament to the strength of the band that they can drive people from their alcohol to come and see them.

Not since the recent bomb scares have I seen people move through Asylum: so rapidly. Only this time there's no misconceptions about fleeing for their lives. People genuinely want to hear this band.
There's an energy and passion about the whole onstage affair. All the members of The Ga*Ga*s: mouth the words to the songs when they aren't singing and the interplay between the musicians is a joy to watch.

There's an earnestness about the back to back guitar playing and mic sharing that is not only not cheesy, but is almost necessary. It makes me want to throw my fist in the air and start singing. Only I don't know all the words. Yet.
Set highlight is Sex, a veritable stompathon that swaggers and poses its way straight to a chorus that soars higher than an eagle on crack. But this is just one of many such choruses. It seems as though The Ga*Ga*s: have quite a talent for crafting such gems.

The entire set is a seamless ream of expertly constructed and played anthems and drummer J provides the pounding basis for it all. But the musicianship of every member of the band should not go unmentioned, each one a standard-bearer for his art.
I'm going out to buy the album. And if you don't own it, you should too. And if you know anyone at all who doesn't own it, you should buy it for them as well. This is a band who truly deserve to be heard.

Music Reviews - 10,000 Things at Jaz Bar - 26th October 04 By Caroline Murphy
So what do the music magazines know about the sensitive side of a group of sexed up 20-some-Things! Their stage show gives anything but that impression, but close-up and personal in the smaller venues of Hull Jaz Bar and Shrewsbury Buttermarket, I can tell a different story. Read more...

Music Reviews - The Morphines and The 89 80s at The Sesh, Linnet and Lark - 30th November 04 By Andy Dykes, Photos by Darren Rogers
Once again tonight, Princes Ave's Linnet and Lark plays host to a evening of live bands. With a stage littered with instruments and a bar crowded with rock n roll types, it looks suitably like the home of what is fast becoming one of the most widely respected and indeed played evenings in Hull. Tonight's headliners Read more...
