Single Reviews - Bodyrockers - I Like The Way (Mercury) By Steve Rudd

The type of tune that you either love or loathe, this latest anthem from this troupe of Dance-dazed musicians is taking the nation by storm regardless, and the Top 40 really cannot resist a tune of this calibre. This release heaves with some epic remixes of the song, but rarely do remixes compare to the original song, though the Tom Neville mix does force the bass-line to stand-out like the veins on the neck of a London Marathon-running acid-lover.

Similarly, Linus Loves mix is drum-beat heavy through and through. Still, it's the original radio edit that the majority of people come to know and love the most, and there is little denying that I Like The Way is yet another in a long line of dance floor-fillers that will kick around on the airwaves only so long as a bigger and better tune isn't lurking around the corner to snatch the glory. The tune's vocals buzz with lusty, Barry White-esque charms, yet at the end of the day, this type of track is really only listened to at the weekend: in preparation for a night first on the tiles - and later in the gutter. The vibes might make you want to dance until your heart's content, but there is tragically no substance to this instantaneously disposable song whatsoever. Still, I'm sure the Mercury record company behind this track will like the way that the money rolls in on the back of this single's release and the amount of people who somewhat inexplicably feel the need to bag themselves a copy... 4/10
