Music Live Band Nightclubs Reviews

The Flies came next though they really should stick to their original name of Dead City Radio. The three-piece played a varied set of songs but need to find a sound that they are comfortable with.

I didn't feel they had the belief in the material and the crowd responded with scattered applause. In time when the bands differences have been ironed out and the line up stays the same, they may gel as a musical act and develop real potential.
The Vels are made up of, Craig on guitar, Alfie on bass and Andy on vocals. They are a talented group of musicians who have at one time or another been in different groups. You could call them a local super group. They are representative of the older take on the current crossover sound that is sweeping through every club.

Songs that cynically explore the rock n roll lifestyle like Shallow coupled with the indie culture and sexual ambiguity of Elvis.
In Andy they have a charismatic front-man whilst Alfie is everything you want for your rock fantasy bassist. Rugged good looks - unshaven, unkempt hair, dark eyes like foreboding saucers of temptation. He plays with style and purpose; a photographers dream.
Alfie owns the Chinese Laundry, a vintage clothes shop opposite May Sum Diner. Check out the extensive range of tops, jackets, skirts, jeans and accessories on sale in the most welcoming clothes shop in town. Anyway, where else can you dance to New Order's Everything's Gone Green whilst choosing your outfit for a Saturday night out?

The Vels are looking for a drummer so maybe you could pop in and offer your services. Look out Esmerelda - The Vels, The Vels.

Why the hell do I do these things, it's not to get my skirt pulled up by some drunken goat called Mark that's for sure. Music Reviews - Friday 4th March 05 - The Ga*Ga*s at Asylum By Andy Dykes, Photo Gallery By Darren Rogers
Its rock-a-rama at Asylum: tonight. Three bands, one bill, all about the rock. First up, Disarm:. Their cover of New Order's Blue Monday is superb, harking back to Marilyn Manson and Dope's covers of new romantic greats. Disarm:'s own material is intricate Read more...

Music Reviews - Monday 28th February - Black Orchid, Diverse Unit, Second To Last, The Regicides at the Ringside
By Harry Slater
It's cold tonight, not as cold as it was this morning, but cold enough to complain about. The garish decoration of The Ringside makes a welcome change from the browns and greys of a city thawing out. The outside door, as per usual, scares the crap out of me as it slams shut Read more...

Aside from any shows that might be playing in the few theatres in the Read more...

Music Reviews - Thursday 17th February 05 - Elobo at The Adelphi By Lucy Kynman
Many of you who go out on a regular basis will know the disappointment you get when you're shakin' your thing on the dance floor and the music changes to your least favourite track. Wouldn't it be nice for every song played to be one that you love, so you could party Read more...

Music Reviews - Tuesday 25th January - Mike (The Bonnits) and The Last People on Earth at The Sesh By Daniel Laney Photos by Darren Rogers
Quite saddened by the fact that this was going to be my last trip to The Sesh in a while, I hesitantly vacated the cars warm interior, knowing full well as soon as my battered trainers hit the cold, coarse concrete, the evenings egg timer would be turned and I would be left Read more...

In, what has been a busy week, I had a date with The Asylum pencilled in. I arrived in good time, and queued with a few others, eventually we were all let in. Tonight's admission was £4 very reasonable for four acts. For those not in the know The Asylum is a large venue Read more...

Single Reviews - Razorlight - Somewhere Else (Vertigo)
By Steve Rudd
Face it - Razorlight front man Johnny Borrell is a total star in his own right, even without the other three lads that make up this tantalisingly talented band... especially when he's armed and potentially infamous with his trusted acoustic guitar. Still, the full band sound is hard to beat, and this tune Read more...
