Internet Opens Up World Market Place For Songwriter Steve Larkman
The internet has proved to be a great place to successfully promote the music of songwriter Steve Larkman.
His independent publishing company Angelmusicplus is selling and sending out hundreds of copies of his debut album Tearjerker to the U.K. and all over the world.
Through the website www.stevelarkman.com the general public and others in the music business have been able to access and buy his music. The result has been phenomenal.
The positive reviews and feedback from the centre of the music industry have sparked interest from Radio Stations around the world and tracks from the album are being played in Belgium, the U.S.A., Australia
and on the BBC.
Success is all the sweeter for Steve having been in the business for many years. He was born down De la pole Avenue in Hull and presently lives in Hessle.
His first enduring pop music memory is from when he was 8 years old playing a copy of The Beatles, I Wanna Hold Your Hand and This Boy over and over on a manual Dansette record player.
He had a few drum lessons at school and played a solo in the assembly hall aged 12 then began playing guitar and writing songs a year later.
At 15 he got to working on sound and light for local bands and throughout this time learned more guitar and continued writing.
Then, he started performing with his own bands. One of these, The Crack got their single released by J.S.O. Records.
Soon afterwards, Steve created a recording studio, Angel Music and worked with some famous people such as Mick Ronson and Howard Gray.
During this period he also worked as a producer for Virgin and 10 Records in some of London's top studios.
In 2003 Steve produced his first solo Album Tearjerker. The songs are uplifting and focus on the unaccountable proceedings of love and modern life.
There are hooks, riffs and more hooks using a variety of styles.
Funky and edgy in Diamonds, sexy and guitar driven for Eloise and catchy and upbeat in Everybody wants to be a Star. Blue for You combines chords that bring out goose bumps with lyrics that will leave you gutted.
After hearing Track 1 Thin White Dove you'll want to press rewind to hear it again...and again.
There are so many hits on this album that it's hard to decide which one is your favourite, you'll keep changing your mind the more you listen.
Tearjerker contains 15 great songs and comes with a full lyrics insert.
The album is on sale at HMV and Virgin Records and can also be bought online at:

Music Reviews - Full Metal Jacket - The Asylum Night Club - Hull Uni - Tuesday Feb 17th By Sue Watson
Featuring Shindigg, Silence in the Streets, Dump Valve and The Freaks Union.
The evening started at 7pm with Shindigg and their new drummer.
Considering they have only been practicing together for two weeks with the new guy (Karl) on drums, they put on a good show.
I have to admit they didn't sound as polished as usual, but they will get there. The crowd enjoyed it anyway!
Next up were Silence in the..

Music Reviews - Riley and The Landau's - Hull University 16th February 04
By Nick Quantrill
As any keen reader of this website will know, one of the bands who have been getting consistently great reviews is Riley.
So Cilla rings me and says; Get yourself down to the university and review them.
We love Riley at thisisUll.com
(only more politely of course!). How could I refuse this kamikaze mission?!
It was the first time I've been to a gig..

On Wednesday, the 21st of January my friends (Ali, Louise, James, Megan and Camilla) and I went on a night out to Pozition, a nightclub in Hull city centre.
It is a great place to go with your mates for a night of dancing, laughing and looking for some top totty, girl or guy!
There are DJ's that you can approach to request to listen to a song and it is basically an absolute ..

The Alarm at The Kazbah, Scarborough - Friday 6th February 04 By Steve Rudd
Gigs do not, I repeat, DO NOT get any better than this. Ever.
Even though The Alarm haven't actually stayed together as a band since their inception back when punk-rock gripped the UK in the late 70's, the charismatic singing-&-songwriting Mike Peters has been over-actively involved

Freebase - at Smash It Up at the Adelphi Club, Hull - Friday 29th January 04 By Carolyn
I wasn't expecting to go out on Thursday night (January 29th) especially because of the crap weather but when Cilla asked if I wanted to go to the Adelphi Club with her to review a band called Freebase.
I've got to say that my initial enthusiasm was for the very reasonably priced vodka and a chance up with my good mate, Cil.

Music Reviews - The Suicide Machines/Adequate Seven/ THE FREAKS UNION - Carling Academy, Liverpool - 12th February 2004 By Dick Spring
This was the first time I'd been to Liverpool in over 10 years (last time was on tour with Mega City Four) but I was impressed by the clean and neatly laid out interior of the newly refurbished Carling Academy (formerly The Lomax).
We were in the middle sized room, the Academy Two, which was a

Music - Sending Out Demos -
Some Simple Advice By Glenn Williams (Lazyswede Productions)
There are thousands of demos posted daily to record companies and radio stations and managers etc. The chances of them all being heard is so small that sometimes it hardly seems worth bothering. In many cases, the problem is simply to do with the packaging of the product.
I must admit, I was also once guilty of sending out a CDR or a cassette with just my telephone number..
