I kept telling myself; nah, no way is Keith Flint at Welly Club. I knew he loved the small venues he plays with The Prodigy but I never thought he would ever play in such a small place like The Welly.

Well that was all put to one side when first bounced on MC Sir Real and MC Bad Manner shouting; ..who wants Clever Brains Fryin'? and then after the beats started. On came Keith - scary eyed and on a mission to put forward this new solo effort.
From the first track that got played Livin Life it was a total assault of beats and piercing vocals.

After the first track, Cherequi, a female and fifth member of the band joined suit and started to belt out her powerful voice (just what you need when you have 4 singers).

At first I thought it was going to be more or less a flying visit by them - I didn't expect them to play 9 tracks for some reason, so that was cool. Here's the full set list:
Livin Life, Uzi, Hard Drive, Soul Beautiful, Plastic, Sick with it, Superstar, Blackout, It went off
All those who know The Prodigy will know their new album, Always Outnumbered Never Outgunned went in at number 1 in the album charts just days after Keith appeared at welly club. It struck me that it's really not about the minority going on and on about Keith's voice like a stuck record; when he was up there performing he really did sound awesome! It's more about what he wants to do and no matter how many bad reviews he has got with his last solo effort Flint etc, he will just keep on doing what he does best - performing!
Clever Brains Fryin' have also just released some new tour dates

Music Reviews - Morrissey and The Dead 60's on Monday 6th September at Bridlington Spa By Steve Rudd.
Photos By Darren Rogers
What can I say, other than what an amazing night! Support band The Dead 60's, who took on the mighty stage at 8pm sharp for their half-hour set, were so brilliant that I'd almost forgotten that Morrissey was still to come after them. The Dead 60's are a young quintet impeccably Read more...

Music Reviews - Blind Frog Ernie, Le Shed, Shindigg, Killer of Saints, Displacements at the Piper Club Tuesday 7th September 2004 By Andy Dykes
I walk through the door of The Piper tonight, straight into a wall of sound created by three guys who look and sound like a very early Blink 182. This band is Displacements. It's hard to figure out exactly what's going on until they introduce a little subtlety. And then it all starts to sound pretty good. Vocally, neither singer Read more...

Music Reviews - Sweet n Sour at the Welly Club 19th August - 5678's, 59 Violets and The Morphines By Andy Dykes
I've heard tonight's openers The Morphines described as something like Ian Curtis singing with The Clash. If my musical arithmetic is correct, then The Morphines should sound something like Sham 69. And they do. A bit. While the garage rock revival grips the world like nuclear war, The Morphines hark back to an era Read more...
