Music Live Band Nightclubs Reviews
Our Experience of The Stop Out Festival, Queens Gardens - Saturday 5th June
By Lee Kelly and Joe Marshall- Reignmaker

We found out some time ago that we would be playing Queens Gardens in the Stop Out Festival and from the outset were very very excited about it.

It would be the biggest crowd we have had the privilege to play to and get a chance to play along side some of the biggest names in Hull like Turismo, Age of Jets, and The Landaus, so as the time drew nearer we got even more nervous and excited about it...
When we arrived we saw that there were already over 100 people there and this was at the start of the day (12pm) and we were contemplating how many people would be there later when we played as we were pretty late on in the billing, we were also nervous about what people might think of us.
The first band we got chance to see was Age of Jets and was surprised to see that they used an odd looking instrument from the sound effects dept of an old time movie making company called a Theremin look it up it's a strange instrument, and it made there sound very unique they went down really great with the crowd and the sound through the HPSS setup was awesome.
The next band we got the chance to see was Turismo. Straight away you could tell why they're one of the biggest bands in Hull. Straight after them came The Bonnitts and the crowd really got into their sound.

We went on after them and at this point there were probably just short of 300 people there and we as a band were all quiet nervous.
When our time came we decided to wake everyone up and Jason our singer decided to coax the crowd into coming right up close to the stage.

Some of the audience obliged and with that we went straight into one of the songs from our forthcoming single called My Hell .
We could see it was a winner straight away as more and more people approached the stage heads rocking with the music. We carried on with our own-penned songs and people really enjoyed it from what we could see.

To end our time on stage we decided to cover I Believe In A Thing Called Love by The Darkness and the crowd went wild with that one! We could see people mouthing the words as they bobbed there heads in appreciation.
In Conclusion, the day went without a glitch for everyone including the organizer, Ripon from Genius Marketing and those in benefit of the day The Princes Trust. The only thing to let down the whole day was the weather as it was overcast most of the day but this didn't dull anyone's spirit..

Hulls Music scene over the past 5 years has grown tremendously and this festival is an ode to that fact, Hull is on the music map and is growing by the day
Rock on you Music Lovers...

Music Reviews - La Femme Feste - Under the Influence at The Adelphi Saturday 29th May 04 By Neil Jacklin
Having spied the poster for Dean Shakespeare's latest offering in my local boutique, I decided on a whim to check out what was being hailed as a major local event in female-led rock. Getting into the Adelphi at about 9 o'clock, I was a little disappointed to be actually able to get a decent seat, but there was enough of a buzz around to Read more...

Music Reviews - Blue Lamp Wednesday 19th May
By Michelle Dee
I went to this gig with a writer friend of mine. I was on a promise. Well, he said he'd buy me drinks all night. On arrival your friends and mine, CrackTown were sound checking so we moseyed along to the bar, as you do. He bought the drinks; me a pint, him a coffee. Hmmm ..He's not drinking I thought, Read more...

Music Reviews - Headup and Pitiful Reign at The Ringside - Wednesday 19th May By Dick Spring
Goddamn! Has Wednesday come round again? Where do the days go? At least I have The Ringside to give me a good midweek blast of quality music and environment. I feel I must say that having been to many of the other pubs that have recently been trying their hand at masquerading as venues Read more...

Music Reviews - Infobia at The Ringside - Wednesday 12th May 2004 By Dick Spring
Wednesday night has come flying round again, and I find myself sashaying along to check out what's on this week at Ringside. Down to play tonight is a Hull band Infobia and what's this? An audience? Not that I would have expected any less from an oft overlooked band but one that has quietly been building it's own following since I Read more...

Music Reviews - Thursday 26th May The Bonnitts at the Sesh Linnet and Lark By special guest Reviewer Lee
The Linnet and Lark on Princes Ave always seems to come into those back in the day conversations amongst my friends and its great to see that its made a major comeback as an original music venue in the city. Music Reviews - Mark Joseph, The 59 Violets, Blue Sand, Pave - Hull Adelphi, May 28th 2004 By Nick Quantrill
It's undeniable that the Under The Influence nights have been a massive success at drawing new acts to the city. Dean really deserves credit for getting the bands of the moment into The Adelphi. Hull needs these kinds of gigs. I also suspect Dean is a canny promoter. Having the support bills filled by the better bands in the city means Read more...

Music Reviews - Skankt Support: Catch-it Kebabs Ska Bar, The Ringside, Beverley Road, Hull.Friday 28th May By Daniel Laney
The Ringside may have played host to a small crowd tonight, but the performance and well being that floated through the air this evening was definitely on a large scale. I was full of cold and feeling sorry for myself, my two friends cough and snot decided they wanted to join me this evening and my god did they keep pestering me. Read more...

Music Reviews - Rhetorical Retro The Landau's The Ringside, Beverley Road, Hull 26th May 04 By Daniel Laney
I have never been a person that judges style over substance but tonight as soon as I saw the Rod Stewart look yet again in full swing and the clothes from Dads wardrobe I cringed. Another venue I was a virgin of until last night was Beverley Road's newest rock venue, The Ringside. This strange venue with its easy going décor Read more...

Music Reviews - PACKED TO THE RAFTERS The Adelphi, De Grey Street, Hull. Homespun Support: John & Wayne By Daniel Laney
Local Heroes & Northern Trio's, tonight's audience get the chance to take a step back and be reflective on their lives. The weather this evening is definitely playing for the cold and cloudy team, but the local fans are willing to queue further and further down the street just to get the chance to see one of Hull's local heroes return with his Read more...
