Therefore, my sister and I deduced that this could be a possible way of discovering if your partner is cheating on you. Enough on that subject for now, I expect Kippa gets fed up of these type of jokes. Although I think for his next writing project he should consider doing a series of monologues called Talking Beds. Anyway. What I like about bands like Sons of the Desert is their interaction with the audience. A good rapport is crucial to a successful gig in my opinion.

All too often I've seen bands who in their misguided arrogance seem to think they're above making a connection to the audience, and perform whilst indulging in the irritating art of shoe-gazing. Well as Gill Adams would say, it's not big and it's not clever. ( She'll probably sue me for reproducing her slogan - sorry Gill.. ).

Some good examples of repartee from the Desert clan - in a homage to pretentious jazz musos everywhere, an incomprehensible jazz solo was played, followed by the comment: If you didn't get that, it's not cos it was rubbish, it's cos you're too stupid to understand it. Excellent. That should ruffle a few neatly trimmed goatee beards.

An eventful night all in all, I got invited to a wedding next August that the Sons are playing at, and then I got asked out on a date by a strange guy who's companion looked totally rat-arsed and had a distinct lack of teeth. Needless to say, his phone number ended up in an ashtray at Sharkey's pub the following day after the Hull jazz fest in Queens Gardens.. The Desert Sons are well worth a looky, not least for their amazing watering can trick. but that's another story.. Sons of the Desert website : www.thebrats.co.uk
