The Landau's, Blue Sand and Blind Frog Ernie Hull Bands Down Under
|
It would seem that for three of hulls local talented bands that boundaries have no hold on them
or their music after contacting Glenn Williams at Lazyswede Productions for his help.
Starting with The Landau's who have been receiving both national radio and TV exposure in Australia.
Since their first single (Sweet But True) was released, and now their second single (What Ya Cryin For)
is due for release in September, already this CD is creating a storm in Australia.
After promoting the new single it has also hit Australian national radio airwaves and has been
played now for 4 weeks, and now they also have a distribution deal in Australia.
The Landau's first single is still receiving daily airplay after three months, which is quite an achievement.
|
|
|
Then along came a young band from Withernsea called Blue Sand.
This band, only just breaking onto the hull music scene, contacted Glenn Williams to help promote
them as well and they are now receiving national radio exposure in Australia.
It is quite possible that TV exposure is not far behind.
This is another East Coast band that could do very well for themselves.
Now comes the longest running band of the three; Blind Frog Ernie, who also contacted Glenn Williams for his help.
As recently as yesterday the band discovered that the video from their new CD House of Pain is to
receive national TV exposure on the 3rd August in Australia.
Once again I don't think it will be long before they are also heard across the airwaves
on Australian national radio as well.
|
These three bands prove that there are no boundaries when it comes to Radio & TV exposure
and if it means they become well known outside of their own country then so be it,
because sooner or later word will spread and the world will be laying at their feet.

Kasabian,Mad Action,The Landaus The Wellington Thursday 22nd July By Lee Atkinson
|
|
After a successful and highly entertaining launch party featuring Turismo, I was interested
to see what Sweet-n-Sour could offer in the way of showcasing bigger, signed acts.
On tonights billing, headliners Kasabian, fresh from a successful Glastonbury
appearance and increasing media attention,

Sweet n Sour at the Welly Club 22/07/2004 Kasabian, Mad Action, The Landaus By Andy Dykes
|
|
Outside the Welly Club tonight there's thunder, lightning and heavy rain.
The bouncers pass umbrellas down the queue so that the line of punters waiting to get in can
stay as dry as possible.
I'm told that there aren't as many people here as last week.
This is only the second time that the Welly has put on its Sweet n Sour night,
and

Sweet 'n' Sour at the Welly Club 15th July By Michelle Dee
|
|
What a night! Live music from The Applewhites followed by Turismo.
Then dancing into the wee small hours to blinding tunes with a packed dance floor.
Apologies to The Applewhites, I was at the Adelphi whilst you were on.
I am reliably informed by Sweet Assassin, that you rocked.
Turismo looked great on stage

Jesse Malin - York Fibbers 10/07/04 By Nick Quantrill
|
|
I have to admit it, I'm biased. Jesse Malin rules and I won't have a
word said against him.
Like most people I discovered Jesse's music through his association with
Ryan Adams.
After numerous years plodding along with quite frankly,
bad to mediocre punk bands, best mate Ryan produced and provided

Blind Frog Ernie at The Cavern - Saturday 3rd July By Andy Steele
|
|
Blind Frog Ernie, in their current guise, were supposed to make their Cavern
debut some months ago but had to cancel at the last minute due to illness.
Tonight it was clear from the off that they were determined to banish the memory of that
missed opportunity and give the place a proper rocking, East-coast style.

|
Walking into Ringside tonight, you could see how the reputation of the
place is growing rapidly, as it was bustling with people.
Various faces were dotted around the place with members of Die For, Le Shed, and Freaks Union
in evidence.
Opening up tonight's gig were Bridlington three piece, The Trailers - although

Music Reviews - Dead or American - Band Bio
|
|
In accordance with the prophecy, Dead or American came into being at the stroke
of midnight on the 31st December, 1999 - the result of numerous failed musical ventures.
Following the departure of founder-member Greg Heuer in 2003 after he realised there was
more to life than this rock n roll pish.
Various bassist were drafted in

The Mingers, Bosseye, The 30 Second Dead, Diverse Unit @ Adelphi Tue 13th July 2004 By Dick Spring
|
|
Bloody hell! It's about time! A proper punk band that had me rolling back the years.
I am, of course talking about Diverse Unit, a bunch of snot nosed punks all around the
age of 15 or so, with a passion and something to say.
The songs were there as well, and for a first gig it showed a talent and tightness of a
band

Payola and Malibu Stacey at The Springhead Sunday 11th July By Dick Spring |

ROCK'N'ROLL!!!!!!!!! Bring it on.
This is what gigs are about; the like of which we haven't seen for many a long
year and in a proper little rock 'n' roll venue.
The Springhead, not known for being a hotbed of originality, despite being
an excellent place to see live music, has stuck it's neck out and booked a fast
rising UK rock band

Le Shed at The Ringside - Wednesday 30th June By Dick Spring |
|
It's been a while since we've had a band in Hull to fill the void left by DumpValve,
since they took a heavier more thrashy direction.
Well, now such a band exists in the Form of Le Shed, who many will have seen gigging
like mad round Hull in recent months, building up a healthy profile.
And now it was the turn of The Ringside to host them

Music Reviews - Eleanor McEvoy and Ade Webb Adelphi 6th July By Michelle Dee
|
|
I was very keen to go to this gig to see the leading lady of Irish folk, as she was billed,
to see whether she lived up to that accolade. Simon the keyboard player from the highly
acclaimed band cowfisH accompanied me I had hoped to avail myself of his
extensive folk music knowledge. I digress..
Eleanor McEvoy was being supported
