Vib Gyor - EP No. 3
By Daniel Laney
|
You're Always Alone, strains the vocalist, in the background the sounds of the rest of the group
support the Bono (esque) melodies.
A soothing and atmospheric lullaby to accompany a long look at the night's sky, a
warm satisfying feeling comes over you as you let the music carry you away.
A simply structured song that consists primarily of verse, chorus and verse arrangements,
also holds the most intricate and uplifting musical interludes to create a highly
relaxing song from the CD.
|
|
|
The second song, The Secret is a completely different kettle of fish to the EP's opening track.
The group go far within the art-rock genre to uncover a sinister and edgy track that
sounds like a combination between Muse, Placebo and Franz Ferdinand and you can
imagine the sounds of Queens of the Stone Age crashing into them.
The bass lines dirty crunch pushes the song forwards until the three-minute piece
disappears abruptly.
|
|
Track three Metamorphosis goes back to the more atmospheric and soothing approach that
we found on track one.
Yet again the band use huge and empowering ambience to take us to a new level of
musical gratification.
Harp techniques have been used to introduce a mythical aura to the piece and the
strings bring the track to a finale.
Organs and whining lyrics open the doors on track four, You Forget, whilst inside a
soft subtle beat gives the song an element of the group Keane's unique approach to music.
|
|
A more conventional song than the other atmospheric tracks available on the EP,
the potential for a sing-a-long status is present inside this room of musical reflection.
|
By now I'm wondering why on earth track two was placed amongst these outstanding
chill-out tracks and as we go into track five I'm curious even more.
The song, Ultimatum, yet again has the airy structure utilising walls of sound to
uplift the listener, but this track has a melancholy undertone that is present in the entirety.
A warm and pleasant listening experience can be found on these five tracks, making you
want to listen to even more material by the group.
|
|
By now its apparent that track two was placed on the EP to ensure that as listeners
we don't type cast the group as being ambient creators of sound, but respect them
as musicians with more tricks up their sleeves than David Blaine.
