The Emily Rose Appeal Emily was born on the 17th February 2004. She was a beautiful little girl and had a lovely personality. She loved to dance, play and get up to all kinds of mischief, just like any other healthy little girl. Unfortunately soon after her birth, Emily was diagnosed with a heart condition called Tetralogy of Fallots. In April 2005 at 14mths old she had surgery in Leeds, in an attempt to correct her condition, but very sadly only survived for a week after. We were faced with the agonising situation of having to hold our precious little daughter in our arms as we said our goodbyes. It is our intention on the anniversary of Emily's death, 28th April 2006, to not just get up and let the day pass by unnoticed, but to do something very positive in Emily's memory. We considered many options, but decided, in the end to climb Ben Nevis, Britain's highest mountain, with the aid of an experienced mountain guide, as a sponsored event. All the proceeds of the event will be donated to Ward 10, of The Children's Heart Unit, where Emily stayed. This is one of only a few in the UK and is based at Leeds General Infirmary. We hope to raise enough money to buy special medical equipment, toys and hopefully have a room decorated and named in Emily's honour that other children and families will benefit from, in what are very difficult and emotional times. Jonathan, Emily's 7yr old brother will hopefully be joining us for at least part of the ascent in order that he too can pay tribute to his little sister.
