Awakening at Pozition, George Street, Hull - 21st January 04
By Annie
On Wednesday, the 21st of January my friends (Ali, Louise, James, Megan and Camilla) and I went on a night out to Pozition, a nightclub in Hull city centre.
It is a great place to go with your mates for a night of dancing, laughing and looking for some top totty, girl or guy!
There are DJ's that you can approach to request to listen to a song and it is basically an absolute scream.
Pozition is in a large building with two dance-floors, one used as an R'n'B room where artists' music ranges from R Kelly to Sean Paul to Fatman Scoop, Christina Aguilera, Black Eyed Peas and the other used as a Dance dance-floor, where artists' music ranging from Sugababes, Boogie Pimps, Michael Woods, Ultrabeat and other mixes are played for your entertainment.
Most of the people dance and have a great time chatting.
You pay £6.00 to enter unless you have a flyer from the last time you went in which case you would get in for £1 less.
Members get in for £3.50 and people on the guest list get in free of charge, or just cheaper than everybody else.
And when you come to think of it, a whole £6.00 is totally worth it to hear all the new songs and up to three and a half hours of boogying (the Awakening nights start at 6:30pm and finish at 10:00pm)!
With a few bars and a café on the top floor where you can order food, drink etc., Pozition is the place to be.
Prices for food start at around £1.00 which I can assure you is REALLY nice and not over-cooked, and fizzy drinks are £1.00 to purchase as well as bottles of water (alcohol is not served as it is an under-18's night).
The facilities are great. There is a cloakroom where you can keep your coat and even your bag. It is safe to use and there are friendly staff to make sure you are okay and to make sure your belongings are safe.
Even the toilets are great. With a furry sofa in the upstairs girls toilets, it even makes the bathroom enjoyable to be in.
This time I went to Pozition, it was a couple of my friends' first time going and they were quite nervous, but with it being such a friendly, safe environment, they soon got to the dance floor and all negative energy was shoved aside.
Overall, the night was a real blast and I enjoyed myself loads. I can't wait til the next time me and my friends decide to go there again because it is the best place to be on a Wednesday night in my opinion!
So all I can say to you if you haven't already been, get your butt off that sofa and get dolled up for a night in town at Pozition (even if you're not seventeen or under there are other nights for adults) with your friends. You cant beat it!
And get ready because the next night for the 14-17 age group 'Awakening' is on again on Wednesday the 18th of February!
It's the big valentines special for the half term with podium dancers as well, so get you bow and arrows at the ready.
Doors open at 6.30pm and then you have a whole three and a half hours to roam free!
Then the next date is on Wednesday the 17th of March.
