Braiding By Annie

I really enjoy braiding, and whenever I get the chance, I braid my sisters' or my mums hair. I even get money from my mums friend for doing hers in six of them. During the summer holidays I am doing a couple of my friends hairs and getting a tenner from each of them from doing about ten in their hair. Then I have money to buy new elastic hair things that are designed for the hair so as not to pull it all out. And I enjoy having my hair done in the them, too….. good job I have a best friend that is willing to do it and can do it really well !!! It is great. I get it done every month or two. As a treat, you know?! Well, here are some instructions as to how to braid if you don't already know.

The person doing my hair is called Flora and she is one of my best friends. She is two years older than me and her brother is in my year at school who I have known since I have been in nursery school. He is called Louis, and he is also a really good friend of mine. Right, so in order for you to start your braid, you need to get three pieces of hair.

Three-Strand Braid: The most common form of braid is the 3-strand braid. The technique is diagrammed left. Keep adding a bit of hair every time you put a piece over the top of the others.

For those new to braiding, the biggest question is: how do you hold three strands with only two hands? The answer is that you hold two of the strands in one hand and one strand in the other. As you braid, the `extra' strand is passed between the hands. It's hard to describe in text; watch the instructor, or have a friend demonstrate.
