After 2 overtime loses and 1 win in the playoffs, the Rays needed two wins from this weekend's home and away games against the Dundee Stars and Guildford to beat the Vipers in their 2 games. First up was the home tie but it wasn't to be ... Not wanting to ramble on, the game finished 5-1 with Dave Pyatt scoring the only goal for the Stingrays in the third period.

After the game had finished it was great to see the players leave the ice and do a lap of honour, shaking hands, cuddling and signing autographs for the fans. It has been a disappointing end to what still has been an amazing season for Hull, but I just can't stop thinking what could have happened. We where second in the league all season, apart from the last few weeks. We finished fourth and then seemed to run out of steam going into the playoffs.

Rick Strachan has put together a strong squad but next year if we are to carry on challenging for silverware, I feel that strength and depth will be needed. I would like to thank Mike and Sue Pack, Rick Strachan, all the backroom staff and especially the players for a season that will remain in my memory for as long as I live.

Only about 5 and a half months until another season and yes, I am counting the months, days and hours until I'm back at the Hull Arena. And if you're interested, the Rays won away in Dundee 3-6 and Newcastle lost both games against Guildford.
