Hull Stingrays vs Bracknell Bees
Winter Cup Semi 12th January 04

Hull Stingrays played host to BNL table-topping Bracknell Bees in the Winter Cup semi-final at the Hull Arena.

Hull started of the better of the two sides with Alipov opening the scoring but Mike Ellis equalized for the Bees only a minute later.

Nikolaev regained the lead while McDougall and Meyers were both sitting out penalties for Bracknell.
Mcdougall once again found himself in the penalty box and Slava Koulikov gave Hull a 2 goal advantage going into the second period.

The only goal of the second period came as Petricko was sitting out a penalty for the Bees.

Masa won the resulting face-off and sent Smital away down the wing and he scored shorthanded to pull one back for Bracknell before the end of the second.
The only goal of the third was another power play goal and (unfortunately) it was a Bracknell goal. Jeff Glowa was sitting out a penalty for tripping and Meyers made it all square.

If the Stingrays played the second and third period like they did in the first we would be going to Bracknell with at least a two goal advantage.
Lyle was having a nightmare in the Bracknell goal, letting in 3 goals from 13 shots but in the second period the Stingrays only managed 4 shots.

Paul Staniforth will always be a linesman in my eyes. Bracknell Bees where virtually assaulting Slava Koulikov every time he had the puck and most of the time when he didn't.
