On form, Guildford Flames visited the Hull Arena on Saturday night for a BNL play off match. Slava Koulikov took the lead for the Stingrays after 3:44 gone in the first period. Smarciak equalised for the Flames when he found some room behind the defence and finished off from a Palov pass with almost 27 minutes gone.

At 1-1 and with 5 minutes left to play in the game the Flames broke away and Chernenko brought down the last man resulting in a penalty shot. David Oliver stepped up for the Flames but Ladislav Kudrna kept him out and sealed a much needed point for the Rays. The game went into overtime where Oliver made up for his missed penalty shot by scoring the winner. Straight from the face-off he received the puck, got close to Kudrna, failed at the first attempt but made no mistake with the rebound.

The Rays should take some heart from this as not many teams will take a point from a game with Guildford in the playoffs but the next 3 games are vital if the Stingrays are going to progress to the semi-finals. League Champions Bracknell visit the Hull Arena on Wednesday night, then Fife Flyers on Sunday.
