After four wins on the bounce for the Stingrays it was time for Edinburgh Capitals to visit the Hull Arena in a winter cup game. Two wins for Hull over the weekend would see them qualify for the semi-finals. It was first blood to the Capitals as Miroslav Droppa with Kieras getting an assist after eight minutes played.

Capitals doubled their lead before the first period was over through Mindaugas Kieras but with eight Edinburgh players on the ice should the goal stand? Referee Staniforth thought so.

Just as the period ended Scott Wray went in for a check on Dino Bouba, who raised his stick to Wray's face leading to a 2 minute slashing penalty on Wray and 2+10 on Bouba for a check to the head. Many Stingrays fans must have been wondering where the team that played against Dundee the week before were and when Droppa got his second of the night it looked all over.

Alipov opened Hull's account on 50 minutes when he tipsied in from an acute angle. Three minutes later and there was only one goal in it Glowa finishing of up close to the keeper. Alipov and Burgess both had great chances to make it all square but Dave Trofimenkoff denied them both. It is about time some questions were asked of the officials.

Do I actually watch the same game as them? If this sport is to develop, this is the number one thing that needs sorting. Edinburgh deserved this win after out playing the Stingrays for two and a half periods.
