Hull Stingrays Failed to follow up their victory over Sheffield
and their draw with Guildford as they fell to a 6-2 home defeat to Nottingham
Panthers today.
Nottingham came out with all guns blazing and on eleven minutes managed
to get the breakthrough goal with Krulis hitting home.
Only one minute later, Craighead should have been called for two
blatant elbows on Kevin Phillips but Staniforth let it go and Ivan
skated up the ice to double The Panthers' lead.
Early in the second period with Pavel Gomenyuk sitting out a two minute
penalty for tripping and Cadotte gets Nottingham's third of the night
after some very patient build up play but once again Staniforth had been
letting these penalties go unpunished all night.

|
Dave Pyatt opened up Stingrays account in the 31st minute with
his first goal of the season.
Two minutes later Ivan got his second of the night when the puck fell
on his stick from a goal mouth scramble.
|
Once the buzzer had gone, Scott Wray took exception to a Panthers
player but just as in Nottingham in, also came Afroman Craighead who should have
been thrown out for third man in but got away with a 2+2 roughing and a 10 minute
misconduct penalty.
Wray gained himself 2 minutes in the sin bin for roughing.

|
Slava Koulikov gave Hull hope when he hit through Cruickhank's legs but it
was short-lived as Ahlroos killed off the Stingrays hopes with 2 goals.
|
|
The first was from a rebound when Kudrna stopped Cadotte's shot but
Ahlroos finished it off.
His second goal came five minutes later with Ivan sitting out a holding-the-stick
penalty for The Panthers.
Dru Burgess lost the puck to Krulis who sent Ahlroos free
and beat Kudrna on a one on one.
|
Stingrays fans will be feeling a little down as tonight's team was
a totally different one to the team that turned up the week before.
They didn't have that edge and hunger that they have shown in most games
so far this season.
Hopefully it will be back for next weeks game against Peterborough.

|
|
On a beautiful, sunny Sunday morning May 16th, I headed off to the Beverley Annual 10k run to capture
some photographs and do my best to find a racer who may write about the experience to accompany them.
Clearly as it's me writing this I was unsuccessful, maybe next year, so you'll have to put up
with my scribbling of the day.
