With the departure of Craig Minard during the week and a 5-2 loss against Dundee Stars on Saturday night, a lot of people won't have been to confident going into Sundays Winter Cup clash against Newcastle Vipers.

They where soon proved wrong when Jeff Glowa opened the scoring - he poked home the rebound from a Scott Wray shot while Hull where on a five on 3 power play.
Former Hull player Paul Ferone equalized for the vipers with a well set-up power play goal.
Stingrays gained control again 54 seconds into the second period when Pavel Gomenyuk hit a shot towards goal and Dru Burges redirected it in mid-air and past Teskey in the Vipers net.

After that, it was all Stingrays. Nikolaev made it 3-1. Slava Koulikov worked hard behind the net and came out with the puck. He fed it to Nikolaev who came round the goal and lifted it above Teskey.
Ferone got his second of the night when Kudrna came out for the puck and a bad deflection off the boards left Ferone with an easy chance. It could and probably should, have been 3-3 when Rob Trumbley had a goal wiped out as the referee had already blown the whistle.
Another early goal in the third period restored Hull's two goal lead. Alipov broke away down the right wing, and then played the puck across to Nikolaev who had plenty of time to fire home.

Referee Carson made up for disallowing Trumbley's goal by disallowing a Stingrays goal. Dru Burgess put the puck in the back of the net but the goal was marginally off its moorings.
Hull's man of the match Andrei Nikolaev finished off the scoring with just over a minute to go when the Vipers pulled Teskey for an extra skater but Nikolaev scored from the blue line.

Dundee Stars who beat the Stingrays are next in line for a trip to the Hull Arena on Saturday 20th November. Face off 5:45.
