Hull Stingrays vs Guildford Flames -

Tonight The Stingrays where host to the Guildford Flames in their first game against FBNL opposition and not much has changed since last season.

The Stingrays took the lead; the refereeing was awful and yes, Hull then threw the lead away.
Kahut opened the scoring for The Flames just before the 10 minute mark but Slava Koulikov soon pulled it back while Baird was sitting out a 2 minute penalty for slashing.

Luke Boothroyd got his first goal for the club when he came out of the penalty box just in time to put away a Scott Wray rebound.
Dru Burgess finished of a beautiful move after work from Wray and Glowa on 32 minutes. Slava Koulikov could have put Hull three in front after Nikoleav broke free down the wing and put Koulikov free in front of the net but a great save denied him.

Hull Stingrays received two penalties in the last minute of the second period to leave them 5 on 3 for the beginning of the third period but they managed to keep The Flames until the 47th minute when Baird scored and only 5 minutes later Potts scored to equalize the match at 3-3.
With just under 58 minutes gone, the referee called a penalty on Guildford's Kohut for face off violation (another of Evans' daft calls) but then to even things out he penalised Burgess for slashing 30 seconds later.

Smerciak hit a slapshot from the blue line and beat Kundra above his glove. With the first two periods over and The Stingrays totally out-playing Guildford, it looked all over but The Stingrays came out a different team.
We didn't throw this game away - we gave it to them.

Sports - Fast Electric Radio Control Model Boats
By Stuart Batley
For some years now I've been going through the motions, like most model enthusiasts do, buying in turn boats, planes, cars, heli's (both IC and electric) but most settle down to one, mine's 'fast electric boats'. I first started by buying an ARTR kit from my local 'Hobby Stores' and then off to the lake and join the club there. On arrival I was taken aback by the speed of some of the hydro type boats, whizzing by. Read more...

Sports - 2004 Beverley Annual 10k Race and Fun Run By Mo
On a beautiful, sunny Sunday morning May 16th, I headed off to the Beverley Annual 10k run to capture some photographs and do my best to find a racer who may write about the experience to accompany them. Clearly as it's me writing this I was unsuccessful, maybe next year, so you'll have to put up with my scribbling of the day. Read more...

Sports - Take Me to the River - Carp Anglers by Mo
I am an amateur angler, mostly river fishing as a youth at a time when televisions were black and white. I was 14 maybe, I had my own rods (3) and tackle, a selection of floats, some ledger weights, hooks and line, all kept in our shed alongside my recent purchase of maggots. I always took great pleasure in seeing my four sisters scream and run at the sight of these little yellow .. Read more...
