Hull Stingrays vs Peterborough Phantoms

Hull Stingrays followed up their first away win of the season with a 5-4 victory over Peterborough Phantoms.

Peterborough soon opened the scoring 22 seconds after Kudrna came out of his net and hit the puck straight at Rieciciar and the puck went straight into the net.
On the five minutes Lavrenovs doubled the Phantoms lead after some clever build up play left Kudrna stranded and Lavrenovs had an open net to shoot at.
Slava Koulikov opened the stingrays account on the thirty minute mark when he received the puck on the blue line, skinned two players and slid the puck past Wall.

Dave Pyatt got his second goal in three games when he found himself behind the net and hit the puck in off the back of Wall.
Only 1 minute later and Yardley restored Peterborough's one goal lead when he finished off another neat move from the Phantoms, but with Craig Minard not coming out after the first period it left the Hull defence a d-man down and Peterborough were taking advantage of this.
With seven seconds left in the second period Glowa won a face off and knocked it back to Gomenyuk whose shot was fumbled. Scott Wray was there to poke home the rebound.

Geff Glowa got an early goal in the third after Stephen Wall stopped a Dru Burgess shot but Glowa managed to force the puck under Wall's glove only for Pavol Rieciciar to get his second of the night with three minutes left.
Scott Wray soon replied to restore the lead a minute later when he hit home a first-timer close to the keeper. Referee Evans once again tried spoiling what had been a decent match by calling daft penalties towards the end of a match. When will the authorities realise this and do something about it?

This wasn't Stingrays best match by far but the sign of a good team is to win when you play bad so with four points this weekend, how could we complain?
Next Sunday sees the Guildford Flames visit the Hull Arena. Face off 5:30pm

Sports - 2004 Beverley Annual 10k Race and Fun Run By Mo
On a beautiful, sunny Sunday morning May 16th, I headed off to the Beverley Annual 10k run to capture some photographs and do my best to find a racer who may write about the experience to accompany them. Clearly as it's me writing this I was unsuccessful, maybe next year, so you'll have to put up with my scribbling of the day. Read more...
