Hull Stingrays vs. Edinburgh Capitals
29 November 2003

by Matt
Match Video.
Coming shortly..
A poor performance from the Hull Stingrays saw them lose their third game in a row and sees them rooted to the foot of the table with only one draw this season.
Edinburgh were the better of two poor teams, with both lacking passion and desire in a game with few chances and not much energy.

Tony Hand broke the deadlock after thirty four minutes with a blistering shot which flew over Raitanen's shoulder.

Tony Hand (Capitals) faces off with Alipov.
The third period started and for a minute or two it looked like the Stingrays could get back into the game but it wasn't to be as Clarke scored on forty seven minutes and key finished the game of after almost fifty six minutes.
Stingrays No 9 Mark Florence shoots on target to be saved. Squad changes could be on the cards as during the week Rick Strachan wouldn't rule any more out after the sacking of Linus Schellin. After the display tonight there could be a lot of players heads on the block and deservedly so.
There are players who could more than manage in the FBNL, sitting in the bar watching every night.
The likes of Anthony Payne and Steve Smilie would complement each other - on the second line with Stephen Johnson they would pose a real threat to any defence and show the rest of the team where real grit and determination can get you. Another "Puck Up" from Stingrays attack.
I said at the beginning of the season that if we come bottom I'm just happy to have a team but to come and see a team that don't even look like they want to win makes me want to be sick.

Ok, we don't have a team full of superstars but that doesn't mean you skate around like a bunch of zombies.
Next Saturday Dundee visit the Hull Arena without Scott Young, who has received a two year ban for his attack on the referee on his last visit.

Face off 5:45. On Sunday Fife flyers should arrive (probably an hour late!) for a 5:30 face off.

Stingrays defence man #4 Brent Pope.

Stingrays wave goodbye to two points.

Hull Stingrays failed to get their first win of the season despite leading 2-1 with only five minutes left in the game. Edinburgh's man of the match Jan Krajicek scored the game-tying goal with 4 minutes and 55 seconds left on the clock. A goal after 13 minutes from Miroslav Droppa had given Edinburgh a first period advantage and Hull didn't... Read more...

Sports - Hull Stingrays vs. Dundee Stars - 9 Nov 2003
By Matt with Video AVI of Tonight's Game
Hull Stingrays got their second point of the season after a gruelling encounter at the Hull arena with the Dundee Stars. The game exploded into life after just 2 minutes when Dino Bouba opened the scoring, Slava Koulikov then went on to score a unanswered hat-trick; the first after four minutes, while Hopkins was sitting out a two minute penalty for.. Sports - Ice Hockey by Matt
Since as far back as I can remember there has been something in my life. It is impossible to explain but it has always stood by me. Like some people cannot live without drugs, I can not live without ice hockey. For me it started back in 1991. In the previous Season the Seahawks managed to win the division one championship and how I wish I had seen that!

Sports Events - KC Skate Park July 2003
My guess was right, and the glorious evening sunshine brought the skatepark kids out in force. Word had obviously got around about the site as I felt like the Pied Piper - everywhere I turned I was met with tricks, questions and overwhelming enthusiasm.

Sports Events Windfest 2003 at Hunstanton
Another last minute rush and the roads were heaving, but it was well worth the effort as Windfest turned out The Place To Be last weekend. Lots of sponsored riders, designers and general kite celebs made the weekend pretty memorable but which kiting weekends aren't?!

Fiction - Telling Lies by Nicholas Boldock
At half past five Harry arranged all the papers on his desk into neat piles, as he always did before going home. He shoved his pens into the blue plastic desk tidy and shut down his PC. He performed this same ritual every evening, did it automatically, even unconsciously. He felt overjoyed to be finally going home - the days seemed to be getting longer and longer and longer - even though home, to Harry, was only marginally more bearable than work. Read more...

Holidays - Simple Holiday Pleasures by Mike
The time was 7.30 am and I was already awake. Liz stirred as I crept out of the caravan without waking Alex and Anna. From our elevated position overlooking the bay, the Med looked as calm as a millpond. The panoramic view was stunning as usual. Read more...
