Hull Stingrays vs. Newcastle Vipers - 22nd Feb 2004
by Matt
Hull Stingrays lost their sixth game in a row with a 4-2 loss at home to a short-benched Newcastle Vipers.
In a fairly boring first period the Vipers took advantage of a wide gap outright and Wallace finished of a Longstaff pass with 12.10 gone in the game.
Stingrays managed to hit back on twenty six minutes with Koulikov hitting a first-timer into the roof of the net. Hull's joys where short lived with Longstaff scoring two goals in as many minutes, the first just 52 seconds after the Stingrays had equalized.
After fifty five minutes it was all over as Beveridge made it four-one to Newcastle. A disputed goal on 58.29 saw Pavel Gomenyuk pull one back to make the scoreline more respectful for the Stingrays.
Newcastle Vipers forward Paul Ferone says (Newcastle hopes for the playoffs) 'We have a good chance especially if e get our players back to full fitness Rob Trumbley in particular'.

(On hulls current team) 'Hull have a hard working unit much better than the league table position suggests.'
Last season (when he played for Hull), he said "I enjoyed my time here. It was unfortunate what happened but I loved playing here with Marc West and Jonathan Weaver".

Hull's next match is against Dundee Stars on Wednesday 25th February, face off 7:30pm and then the last home game of the season is on Saturday 28th February against top of the league Fife Flyers and faces off at 5:45pm.
