As Friday night bounced away in its masses I hot footed it along with photographer Dee down to the opening night of Hulls newest café bar/nightclub FUEL. And what a splendicious night we embarked on!. I had the level of fun that only a damn good sun drenched, off-it and 'avin it week away gives you. As the flyer so confidently and rightly said 'Fuel is the new home of Hulls gay scene and also provides the perfect setting for all sexy, fun-loving, attitude free party people'.

These guys sure didn't lie. A visionary tardis in which you end up in the Bacardi adverts, you know with Vinnie Jones giving it some?. There was not an ounce of anger in sight, well my sight anyway and I did check with Dee to make sure that it was not the euphoria of drunken debauchery and frolics alone that made it such a good night. We strutted our way down to the front of the queue (VIP !) past the circus performers where we were greeted by Danny (FUEL big cheese ) and his team of smart and polite door staff who showed us through. With a stilt walker, dancers, hostesses, UV white décor and a disco ball to die for, our mouths dropped with shock and awe!. This was great, a vibe that gets inside of you - makes you wanna dance like no one is watching. The music was hot and original with top DJs from Fibre in Leeds and Es Paradis in Ibiza. Accompanied by a live percussion section this was turning out to be a multitude of pleasures that we certainly didn't expect!. The open air terrace which has got a full DJ rig is reminiscent of those in the Mediterranean and one of the nicest this side of.

Drunk, mainly on the atmosphere (at first) I talked away with so many great people and Dee caught some great moments on camera, it's unbelievably clear from the pictures and interviews that this café bar/club, that has graced the dark door to Hull with its flash and trendy presence, will almost certainly stun, excite and educate all who try out this unique (in Hull!) venue. Believe me I think you might be surprised. I left wishing I was going back to my hotel room and the smell of suntan cream, guess I'll have to settle for my unmade bed and the remnants of getting ready for the great night I'd just had! "Fuelled up in fur?"
