Food Reviews
Thai House
By Allen Miles
Last Friday after leaving Mo to do his thing at the Waterstones "Is Hull Really Crap?" debate, I was fortunate enough to indulge in an evening's dining for two at the Thai House restaurant on Princes Ave.

The first thing you notice about the place is how beautifully it is decorated, with oriental artwork and candles everywhere.
All the staff are dressed identically, the girls in sort of geisha-girl costumes and the men in smart waist coats and trousers.
Despite not having booked, we were shown to a table straight away (it might be advisable to book however, as we did get the very last table).

We ordered drinks, I ordered a pint of Worthington's but they had run out so I had to settle for a small glass of very, very flat coke, and browsed the massive menu.

There really is an incredible amount to choose from, including an extensive vegetarian selection and a wonderful desert menu.

I plumped for the Thick Red Thai Curry with Duck and Coconut Rice and Sally went for the Thai Noodles with Stir Fried vegetables.
After eating our starters (I had Chicken Satay with peanut sauce, can't remember what Sally had) we tucked into our meals.

They were lovingly presented on pretty oriental crockery and clay bowls. We were also served very promptly. My curry was fabulous.

There was just the right amount too, not enough to put you off yet enough for you to feel you were getting value for money.
There was plenty of meat and the sauce was aromatic and flavoursome.

We ended our feast by sharing a portion of their delicious coconut ice-cream. The staff were courteous throughout and even asked if we required a taxi when they brought us the bill.

The whole meal, including starters, main courses, deserts and two rounds of drinks came to roughly £32.00 which I thought was excellent value for the fantastic meal we got.

I thoroughly enjoyed my evening at Thai House and I can recommend eating there on the highest possible level. I shall certainly be going back many times in the future.

Woke up this morning and had an overwhelming desire for Chinese so I decided to test out Wins,35 Spring Bank with my 10 year old son. They have a superb lunchtime offer - £2.50 for any main course minus fillet steak and duck dishes. Read more...

Food Reviews - Pizza Planet Plummets! by Petra
Moving further up Spring Bank I recently frequented Pizza Planet - a Pizza/Kebab/Burger/Fried Chicken etc etc take-away. Top Tip- I shouldn't have bothered. My cheeseburger was bland to say the least - the succulent tasting stick certainly wasn't hitting Read more...

Cooking - Lasagne & Salad Supper by Jessica, Amenah and Hannah

Reviews, Films - "Love Actually" (15) by Shelly Dee
Wednesday night I went to see Love Actually. It is a fantastic feel good movie. Yes, it is Richard Curtis of Four Weddings fame again doing English romantic comedy but it's really good. Hugh Grant, as the man at No 10, gave a typical Hugh Grantesque performance. However, his dance to "Jump" was a real eye opener and raised a laugh or two in the auditorium. Read more...

Holidays - Al's Trip To Croatia By Allen Miles
£649 is a lot of money in most people's eyes. And to spend that much money on seven days away when you're only earning £130 a week might be in a very real way considered lunacy. However, I decided to go for three reasons; Read more...

Articles - Hull is Fab and Super
by Suzie Horsington-cum-Scoff
Well I couldn't believe it when I heard that two nasty people had published a book about Hull being a crap town. Which is why I have decided to show my social conscience and write this article. Apparently it all started with someone called Finlay Cooks-Britain, who is a celebrity chef or something, slagging Hull off as being crap and smelly.

It's that time of year when the world goes mad and the nights call early and the coldness reaches parts we almost forgot about.

Fiction - The Art Of Being Alone In A Crowded Bar By Rich Mills
What music are you into, man? The American exchange student who had earlier introduced himself, without any regard for Jean-Paul's need to be alone, suddenly threw a curve-ball of a question in his direction. Well I listen to... Fiction - Old Tired & Completely Rucked By Martin Dale
Of course, I used to be big league me. Right up there with the bigwigs I was. Every game I'd be out there, working my socks off for the club. I'd be at the bottom of every ruck, in the thick of every maul, I'd cover more of the pitch than anyone else on the team. Pretty good really, now that I come to think about it, Read more...
