Caesars Delicatessen, Princes Avenue, Hull
By Carolyn
On Saturday March 12th myself and Andy had arranged a night out with some friends who later,
due to circumstances shrouded in some mystery, let us down.
After a bit of thought it was decided that we would go to Caesars: deli for some
tasty cuisine, where we had previously bought tapas and other lovely take away
treats before on a number of occasions.
With the intent again to get some food to take away we strolled up onto Princes Avenue.
However, seeing (and smelling) the delicious looking food in Caesars: meant we just
had to eat a meal in here.
Sharing home produced Moroccan chicken with saffron and lemon and side orders of
green bean salad and ratatouie we enjoyed a couple of hours a million miles away
from everybody else on the Avenue.
Its originality for Moroccan and continental foods is outstanding and nearly all
of it is home produced by Mohamed and Heather Zemrani - both of whom are incredibly
welcoming and friendly..
You cannot beat this place for its rustic approach and obvious extensive knowledge in
producing fine continental food both savoury and sweet.
Traditional baklava dessert and houmous with olives are amongst the other lovely
treats but to get the full experience you need to simply go in and see for yourselves.
On new years eve Caesars: closed until mid January so that Mohamed and Heather could
re launch, now you can enjoy the eating in experience of Moroccan delicacy and it
seems to be proving a big hit. Walking past 3-4 times a week I see that it is almost always busy.
Previous to this Saturday, I had eaten in with a couple of friends and my daughter
(who was treated like a queen).
My friends had the traditional made meatballs - nothing but glowing reports!
I was glad, as one of my friends had traveled up form Birmingham, so to give him
somewhere great to eat that's not been sold out to high prices and crap products
could be only a good mark for Hull as a pioneering city.
Caesars also let you bring in your own alcohol - licensing does not permit them to sell it.
You'll want a good bottle of wine though, as anything less would not do their fine food any justice!
Overall, this is a must for anyone who enjoys good food and a taste for anything cultural
other than British!
Thank you to Caesars::, as this was the first meal out with my boyfriend Andy, we both
could not have gotten it more right than having it with you!
And thank you to the friends who let us down- you did us a favour !

I recently had a meal at a new restaurant in Ottringham called at The White Horse.
It seems everyone that has experienced the place have nothing but good reviews of it.
It is, as the name would suggest the old White Horse pub that has been fully

Does anyone remember the 80's sweets? They were so much better than the crap on offer today.

Thanks thisisUll, having recently read your review and being a Newland Ave resident
I have just visited Newland Fisheries. It was fantastic, the fish is white, the
batter is light and crispy, the chips are tasty. Definitely the best on Newland
Ave and surrounding area. Highly recommended.
