Two Sides : A Friday Night Out In Hull (4/6)
By Joe Hakim
(1/6), (2/6), (3/6), (4/6), (5/6), (6/6).

Dean:
So we're in town, knocking the drinks back like they're going out of fashion. We go in White Horse before heading to Yello. I had another couple of bongs with Mark before we went out so I'm pretty stoned. I decide the best thing to do is drink like a fuckin' maniac so the alcohol cancels the weed out.

We're on Stellas with JD chasers. Mark can sup like a motherfucker, but I'm walking sideways within the space of an hour.I go to the toilet and have a little puke. It's mainly liquid, all the beer coming back up, but I can also taste the remnants of me burger and beans which makes me puke again.
After sorting myself out I go and rejoin Mark, who laughs when he sees me walking towards him. "Yerra right fuckin' fanny," he says, laughing.

"Fuck off," I say. "And get me another pint."

We head off to Magma and I have another little puke on the way, which sends Mark into hysterics. Eventually we get inside. The music's cheesy as fuck, but we're not in there for the tunes. We're on a hunt for gash. I'm smashed enough to be a bit cocky, so we survey the floor for some birds.
"Look at those two dancing down there," Mark says, pointing. "I'm bagsing the one with the blonde curly hair - you can have the other one."

I'm perfectly fine with this. At this point I'd probably fuck anything with a pulse, so after a quick shot of JD we go over. I start dancing with the brunette and she seems up for it, so I offer to buy her a drink. As we head towards the bar, Mark turns around and says, "I think we're fuckin' in here."

"I think yer fuckin' right," I say.
Katie:
We decide to go to Heaven and Hell. I find out the kid I'm with is called Dean and his mate is called Mark. We're all pissed by now and Dean's all over me. He doesn't really know what he's doing, and he tries getting my tits out in the queue. When we get inside, Katie and I go for a dance while Dean and Mark go to the bar.
"Are you gonna fuck him?" Katie asks.

"I dunno. He needs to calm the fuck down. Did you see him in the queue? So, what about you?"
"Probably. I haven't had a decent shag for a couple of weeks so I may as well. Summat to do, innit?"
Katie doesn't think of sex as a big deal. In fact, she loves to report the whole episode to all her friends: size, length, girth, duration, things like that. I, on the other hand, struggle with it sometimes. I like sex, don't get me wrong, but if you're going to do it, you may as well enjoy it. All too often blokes just don't know what the fuck they're doing. I've got a feeling that Dean's going to be one of those, but you never know - he might just surprise me.

Dean and Mark return and we have a few drinks. Mark is laughing and joking with Katie, but Dean's just sat there with his hands up my skirt, yanking at my knickers. I'm kissing him and his breath tastes of beer and tobacco.

Articles - Funky's Matt Hill writes to us from Thailand By Matt Hill
Hey, Matt here :-) I know it's been AGES since I sent some pictures, so I finally made myself take some - you know what it's like, the weather's never good enough or you know the camera won't do it justice, but the time has come. OK, so you have to realise that these pictures aren't going to really impress you, this place isn't big or clever. Also, my digital camera disk keeps getting wet Read more...

Articles - Quitting My Job - A Prologue By Joe Hakim
The idea comes to me in a dream. I know listening to other people's dreams is more boring than listening to their problems, but bear with me. I grab an hour's kip before work, and I enter that half-asleep/half-awake state where dreams are vivid and loaded with symbols. I'm in my flat and I have a pet lion. I'm watching it run around, and I'm upset because I know that I have to get rid of it Read more...

Articles - Ladies and Gentlemen, the Freakshow is Over...For Now By Jane Foster
So, we finally have the official verdict on Michael Jackson - ill, but innocent; nuts, but not guilty; freaky, but to him and his equally barmy fans, free. Frankly I could never see what all the fuss was about. Surely anyone who has had to endure his tedious dance routine (consisting of squeals of Ow! Ee-hee! whilst grabbing his genitals) should be glad that at last he's moved on to fondling someone else's? Read more...

Articles - The Sixties By Marion
Everyone has memories from their childhood. Some of mine involve making a union jack windmill while at primary school, then standing on Beverley Road, waiting to wave it at the Queen, when she visited Hull once. Another thing that sticks in my memory was when a new food fad came into being: frozen beef-burgers, chips, and peas. I drove my poor mum mad wanting them all the time! Read more...

Articles - My Self Harm
Why am I qualified to write this piece? Why, because I live with the reality of being a self-harmer each and every day. I started self-harming when I was about ten years old.
