Dixons Gala Charity Night in aid of Headway Tuesday 27th July At The Goodfellowship Inn, Cottingham Road, Hull By Darren Ralph

Tuesday night at the Goodfellowship Inn saw the return of the third annual charity gala night organised by the staff of Dixons Group. This years fundraising was in aid of Headway the brain injury charity. The night got off to an unexpected start; the stand in band who were booked earlier that day due to the original band cancelling in the morning, set up their equipment and then announced the drummer hadn't turned up and they too would have to cancel.

This left a huge hole in the entertainment schedule that was planned for the evening but posed no worries though for the organiser Lucy Jackson, who appeared to have an ace up her sleeve with another back up artist John Daniels. This trick was better than some of the ones Alan Hudson, the magician had up his! Alan Hudson, Mr Magic Entertainments, performed his usual array of mind reading skills, most of which were done to great success, some of them not but that's live entertainment.

John Daniels then performed several old numbers, which went down very well with the audience. Sarah Tomlinson, a member of Dixons staff then sang a few numbers, finishing with her favourite, Big Spender before performing a duet with Lucy Jackson - also a member of the Dixons team.

The evening did seem a little flat compared to previous years but overall the night was a success and raised over £800 for Headway. This was due not only to all the staff members of Dixons but also the many companies that donated raffle prizes. Links: www.alanhudson.net
