Going Down
Only Fools and Horses Convention continued
By DJ Chris Plant
prev page

The BBC was also on hand, they have re-edited Royal Flush for Christmas and they wanted fans to watch the new version and record the laughter. Only 400 lucky fans have seen the new version (and Alex and I were 2 of them). Over Christmas we will be able to hear our laughter when the episode is broadcast for the first time as a new edit (what an honour)!
The Convention staff even built a replica of the famous Trotter flat and it looked fantastic. Everybody had the chance to get a photo of themselves with two look-alikes of DelBoy and Uncle Albert, inside the Trotters flat for just £5.
The Trotters Ethnic Tour bus also made an appearance outside The Leisure Centre. Inside the Tour Bus were lots of props from the TV show, which included DelBoy's jackets and hat, Rodney's army jacket, Uncle Albert's duffel coat, DelBoy's bar from the Trotter flat, wallpaper from the Trotter flat and many more interesting items.
The Convention held an auction on stage and there were plenty of amazing items on offer (including a signed Nicholas Lyndhurst photo). Unfortunately I didn't have enough money to bid for ANY of the items. But I did have enough money to buy a couple of raffle tickets.
When it was time for the raffle, I never thought that I would do any good as I hadn't won a raffle in my entire life. But to my amazement I WON FIRST PRIZE!

I just couldn't believe my luck and neither could my friend Alex (calling me a lucky git all the way back to Hull). I went home with a framed copy of a Peckham Echo, as used in the final trilogy with a Certificate from the BBC.
The framed Peckham Echo is worth a mint and will only rise in value, but no money in the world could make me part with it, as I have a piece of history from the country's greatest TV Comedy series.

Another great day out for my friend Alex and I.

Bonjour for now!

Going Down - The V Festival 2004 By DJ Chris Plant
Well, I managed to get 2 tickets for me and my friend Alex on Ebay for £140 (including camping on the campsite next to V Campsite). We set off at 7am on Friday 20th August to beat the early birds and to make sure that we had a good place to pitch the tent. We packed loads of stuff Read more...

Going Down - Malarky Returns to Glastonbury 2004
This year I returned to that ever so laaaarrrrgggggeeee festival. Some call it gluttony, some Glastonbury. Arriving a day early meant the ground was dry when I put up tent. Rain, then wind, then sun, then rain. Sun, heavy rain, then it pissed it down again..........another washout at Glasto, surely not? Read more...

Going Down - World Music Day at Queens Gardens Saturday 19th June By Jane Foster
I'd been praying that the rain would hold off for this very special event at Queens Gardens. Luckily it did for most of the day, and with bands from as far afield as Zimbabwe and Afghanistan, we all ended up dancing our little socks off.. The day was organised by Chris Smith at the Warren centre, and hats off to him for putting on a great event Read more...

Going Down - Cannabis March to smoky bears picnic in Pearson Park By Carl Wagner
The bullying nature of the so called war on drugs makes it difficult for many people to even voice an opinion on cannabis, so well done to the 100 or so that turned up for the 4th annual cannabis protest march. The march left Queens Gardens at 1.00 pm with a police escort, and noisily worked its' way through the city centre Read more...

Going Down - Get Your Tools Out, Girls! - Ladies Night at Nortech By Michelle Dee
On Tuesday 25th May I accompanied Cilla to Nortech Ladies Night on Drypool Way. I didn't really know what to expect. There were various trade stalls with impressive looking tools on show! We were welcomed immediately by the friendly faces of Nortech MD, Tony Cosgrove Read more...

Going Down - Rain Didn't Stop Voices In Play By Rich Mills
I awoke this morning to a miserable day. Quite depressing after all the glorious sun we've had lately. More so because today was to be a large out-door event organised by community activists Voices In Play. It's A Community Knockout, supposed to be held at Princess Read more...

Going Down - Review - Bhangra Bollywood night at Stratten Hall 17th April 04 By Jane Foster
This night was organised by Mrs Kamlesh Singh, from the Lakh Kushia shop on Newland Avenue. Lakh Kushia specialises in all things Eastern, and was set up to attract people from all sections of the local community. This was the second of these nights to take place - the first one being a Read more...

Going Down - An EveningWith The Dark Poet - Bill Hicks Anniversary Tribute At the Adelphi By Rich Mills
It seems strange to be doing a review of Bill Hicks ten years after his death from pancreatic cancer. On 26th of February 1994, the world became a darker place. However, a legacy of words that has resonated across the years, shows that the man who described himself as a dark poet was a shining light. A genius with a razor sharp wit, who never compromised, and only spoke the truth! Read more...

Going Down - Hit And Run Poetry By Rich Mills
Well the Renegades have been at it again. Sunday night, as the rest of the world took in the news of Saddam's capture, the Renegade Writers stormed the Jaz Bar in Lowgate, Hull. Now feelings would be mixed, I'm sure, as to whether they went down a storm or like a lead balloon. One thing is for certain - the quiet Sunday audience were not prepared for the Renegades onslaught.

Going Down - Got to pick a Poet or Two by Mo.
Last night I accompanied Jane from the Renegade writers to Nellies Pub in Beverley to what turned out to be a terrific night of competitive poetry readings. Ten years ago I'd be ribbed and teased. My mates would have said "you're going soft" to have spent the evening in front of a roaring fire listening to poetry in one of the oldest pubs in England. . Read more...
