The live bands on show also battled with the aforementioned circumstances and lack of audience. Bubblegum Radar kicked off the electric part of the day, with their psychedelic 60's acid rock, pitched at lovers of Cream, The Doors, and Hendrix. They were followed by Steer, with their leanings towards Radiohead, who sadly suffered from a terrible PA mix.

The Brilliance (formerly Oracle) with a very polished set, brought a bit of showmanship to the proceedings. With the event over-running badly (and having to leave) I didn't get to see Shindigg or 59 Violets, much to my disappointment, though both are seasoned veterans and I am sure both turned in great sets to a dwindling audience.

Sadly, there are so many of these half-baked music events across the city. Having been to many of the ones that are organised each year, it seems to me that if the expertise and funds were actually put into one or two events, Hull could have a fabulous festival, but whilst no one is prepared to work together, we will continue to have a bunch of shambolic and wasteful events.

As a final comment, I think today was a triumph for the organisers and they must be encouraged to repeat this again next year, so come on funders (and City Council), support the people who are REAL, as opposed to some of the charlatans in this fair city. In this age of focus on youth obesity it was awesome to see all these young people from different areas of the city and subcultures all coming together and having a great, well behaved day of fun, unity, and exercise.
