Women And new Media Project - WAM! continued
By Natalie Bell
prev page,

WAM! covers all of Hull and the Humber Sub-region, which reaches to Goole and Bridlington, and South of the Humber, so location is no excuse, and the project's popularity means it wants to reach more women than ever.

On top of increasing the number of existing, overbooked courses, WAM! are currently writing a new course on using the internet. The OCN course will introduce you to getting on-line, personal security for you and your children and you will come face to face with the wonders of email.
The project is constantly expanding. From simple beginnings of Adele working alone for one and half days a week, with a small budget to pay tutors, they are now looking for extra volunteers and currently recruiting a new Project Worker.

Future plans include securing National Lottery funding to help provide access for groups who WAM! feel need more attention - including women with disabilities and those of the older generation or ethnic backgrounds, as well as further assisting the women they already help.
So come on. It doesn't matter where or when, or what you want to do WAM! has something for you.

Surely, away from the pressures of male dominated courses, with courses learner led in a small friendly atmosphere, run in a time and way convenient to you, this has to be the time and the way to have a go with new media.
You could surprise the kids with your web skills, scan and crop your holiday pictures or send out personalised greetings cards this Christmas - whatever you want to try, WAM! can help. Give it a go.

If you'd like to know more, WAM! are based at Hull Time based Arts 42 High Street, Hull. HU1 1PS. Call Adele, Jo or Claire on 01482 307070 or email adele@timebase.org
