News - Bridging The Gap Project Press Release

A new Community Resource Centre is soon to open on Bricknell Estate, and is looking for volunteers. Hull DoC's Bridging the Gap Project is turning a shop unit on Bishop Alcock Road into a much needed base for community groups and residents of the Bricknell area of Hull.
The project has been working with local groups on the estate for a number of years. The centre will create a focal point for all the community, a place they can come and have a drink, access training and short courses, information and advice, and be signposted to services.
Once the centre is fully up and running the resources available will also include internet access, meeting space, as well as office space for local community groups to use. The centre will be open to all residents of the Bricknell Estate area, and will run activities for young and old.

Currently the project is looking for volunteers to decorate the newly refurbished interior of the centre.

If anyone would want to help finish the centre with a good lick of paint, then please get in touch with Richard Mills the Hull DoC Development Worker for the project.
You can contact Rich on (01482) 331422. Or email richard.bg@ourcomms.org.
In addition we are looking for volunteers to staff the centre, so that we may have it open as much as possible. The centre hopes to open its doors by the middle of May, and will initially be opened for at least 3 days a week. However with the support and help from volunteers, we hope that we will be able to open the centre 5 days a week.

If you are able to offer any of your time, to run the centre, then we will offer full support and training as needed.

Kids Articles - Fisher Park By Richard Clancy, Kayleigh Gouldson and Taking Pictures By Kyle
I went to Fisher Park to make a film and take photographs of the local area. I think that the graffiti on Fisher park 'sucks' because graffiti is horrible. It makes the area look worse than it already is. I like living on Orchard Park, but it doesn't look very nice. The older youths in the area make it worse with all the graffiti they spray all over the place. Read more...
