Saturday 10th May 08 - The Great Plant Giveaway

A large group of churches in Driffield have been preparing a massive gift for the people of Hull, and it will be unveiled on Saturday 10 May at New Life Church in Hull.

Realising thousands of gardens had been hit by last summers floods, Church goers in and around Driffield decided they did not want Hull to remain a "forgotten city", so began a journey that has now led to thousands of plants being grown and bought in preparation for a Great Plant Giveaway.
On Saturday 10th May thousands of plants and trees will travel down to Hull, and New Life Church, on Bridlington Avenue in Hull will be turned into a garden centre, complete with cafe, for the day. Owners of all flood hit gardens in Hull are invited to come along and take 20 plants each, free of charge, as a gift of solidarity and hope between Driffield churches and the people of Hull.
Driffield Churches Together have chosen Hull's New Life Church as a base for the venture after hearing of their work to take luxury food hampers to those in caravans over Christmas, and their endeavours to cheer up Hull through the winter through free concerts, pamper days, Valentines meals, Fun days and free studio photographs for flood victims.
The Great Plant Giveaway will take place on Saturday 10 May, 10am-3pm at New Life Church, Bridlington Ave, Hull. Owners of all flood hit homes in the region are invited.

"Oh my God, those dogs looked so real!" - you will hear everyone squeal when they first walk into Chill, which used to be known as The Hub. Walking a bit further Read more...

Dropping something off at a friend's one morning I finally decided to try the 'little sister' to the Boar's Nest and have a breakfast. Food and Drink - Sleepers Bar, Newland Avenue By Fiona Carr
Recently under new ownership this has gone from a shaky start as one of the first cafe bars on Newland, rather than the already chi chi Princes Ave, to an established favourite for the discerning. On a whim, my somewhat dizzy companion and I just turned up for a mulled wine. It was buzzing with a loud but not aggressively so level Read more...

Food and Drink - Revolution Reviewed by Matthew Wilson
After seeing the 15 minute promise posters in the window of Revolution every day for a couple of weeks, I decided to go in and put them to the test. The deal is, if your food takes longer than 15 minutes from when you order to when it appears on your table, you get it for free. So upon entering, my wife and I were told by a friendly young lady to take a seat. She came Read more...

Date 25th November. Party of 14. Table for 8pm. When we turned up it was very busy. Our table had been put in the corner next to the cooking area. We did not have enough tables, I had to sit on the corner of a table and eat my starter. It was not until I spoke to the Manager that they increased our tables by 1. He told me; all you had to do was ASK! Because we were a large number Read more...
