Sunday 19th August 07 - Hull Film Marquee At The Grassroots Free Festival, Pearson Park 12pm

On Sunday 19th August 2007, Hull Film will bring a feast of films to the Grassroots Free Festival at Pearson Park with the Hull Film Marquee. Including the best of the National Young Filmmakers Award and Rock Against Racism documentary Who Shot The Sheriff.

Throughout the day, festivalgoers will get the opportunity to come and enjoy the best of the National Young Filmmakers Award Day, a selection of local films presented by Slack Video, a series of music videos from Choon and a screening of powerful documentary Who Shot The Sheriff.
There'll also be plenty of other treats throughout the day including surprise screenings and special guests.
Hull Film Director Laurence Boyce said:

We're delighted to be bringing the Hull Film Marquee to the Grassroots Festival. Grassroots has always provided the best bands for the people of Hull and it's great to bring some of the most exciting films.

No matter what kind of film you're interested in, the Hull Film Marquee will provide something for everyone. So drop in at any time of day, sit down, relax and enjoy the screenings!
The Hull Film Marquee will kick off at 12pm with the best of The National Young Filmmakers Award Day, presented in association with the Leeds Young People's Film Festival.
There'll be animation, documentary and drama shorts for all the family to enjoy made by talented young directors under the age of 18. The mini-masterpieces will not only prove an inspiration for aspiring young filmmakers but will also give film buffs a chance to spot the stars of the future.

During the afternoon Slack Video will present some of the very best locally produced films. A showcase of the wealth of filmmaking talent across Hull, the screening will not only provide enthralling entertainment, but there'll also be the chance to meet some of the filmmakers and ask about their work.
Also on hand will be Propeller TV, who will present an eclectic mix of music videos from their programme Choon which presents some of the most talked about unsigned bands from around the country.
Music fans will also be gripped by Who Shot The Sheriff an engrossing documentary that charts the rise of the Rock Against Racism movement.

With appearances from the likes of Billy Bragg and Pete Doherty, the movie, aside from providing a fascinating history lesson, will also give people plenty of archive footage of classic performances from some of the biggest bands of the past 30 years.

More information about the programme can be found www.hullfilm.co.uk whilst full information on the Grassroots Free Festival, including the location of the Hull Film Marquee, can be found at . www.grassrootsfreefestival.co.uk
